Forgiveness
(Barbara H Whitfield RT and Charles L Whitfield MD) For the past 80 years, between us, we have helped adults who were repeatedly abused and neglected as children—sexually, and/or physically, emotionally and psychologically. This is not a short term endeavor as some may believe. Short term is a “band aid.”

The Bad Habit of Thinking Badly of Others — Hating Today, Consumes the Joy of the Future
(Justin Deschamps) What’s wrong with a little venting? Discharging toxic emotional energy is extremely important, which helps us avoid trauma, feel joy, and forgive others to maintain healthy relationships. But if the button for negativity isn’t reprogrammed, an endless stream of emotional toxicity can be a part of daily life. In such situations, when we haven’t learned to transcend (which is a skill all to often overlooked in education) we’ll think badly of others. This has a terrible price, it makes the “hate” button or triggers bigger, and it bleeds over to other places. Before you know it, all that’s left is bitterness and an endless stream of excuses for why you’re justified in thinking badly of others. But with a little courage, all this can change in the twinkling of an eye.

Forgiveness: An Important Aspect of Flourishing
(Tyler J. VanderWeele Ph.D.) One of the projects of the Human Flourishing Program at Harvard University has been researching the topic of forgiveness and its importance for a flourishing life. Some of our empirical work has explored how forgiveness can powerfully shape health and well-being. For example, our research indicates that forgiveness reduces subsequent depression and anxiety by about 15-20%, when controlling for other variables, and suggests that forgiveness is a freeing and healing alternative to maladaptive responses like rumination and suppression.

Forgiveness is The Brake On The Wheel Of Karma
(Sue Maisano) Perhaps there are some people you wish you could throw bricks at. Don’t yet, because there is a much better solution to being totally done with them. The solution is called forgiveness.
