Water is one of the most abundant substances on Earth, yet it is little understood by the scientific community.
One interesting property of the H2O molecule is that it seems to have a pentagonal geometry in relation to the angles at which the hydrogen and oxygen molecules bind to each other. Yet when this molecule interacts with other substances, it creates hexagonal patterns. One of the most recognizable formations of this pattern is a snowflake.
The so-called fourth phase of water is another of these hexagonal formations. Under certain conditions, water forms loose ionic bonds to form H3O2, a lattice structure that is essential for biochemical interactions. Biological life actually produces vast quantities of H3O2 via infrared light; heat.

In the following article by Scott from Secrets in Plain Sight, he describes how sound maybe responsible for the formation of snowflakes. If we consider for a moment that sound is a form of electromagnetic vibration, then it stands to reason that magnetic fields can and do reorient the water molecule. This idea is approaching the study of Cymatics, which states that matter is organized via sonic principles of motion.

And of course there is the infamous Dr. Emoto experiments with water and sound, wherein he formed ice crystals in the presence of music of various types, each creating their own unique pattern dependent on the harmonic inclusiveness of the music being played. He also conducted experiments using emotion as an organizing force, which similarly produced patterns in the forming ice.
