(Stillness in the Storm Editor’s Note) The following piece of disclosure comes from Metro News, a site that, on first glance, seems to have a lot in common with other mainstream Internet news sites such as Buzzfeed.
In fact, the former and the latter have very similar looking sites, using a pop culture aesthetic that Internet news readers would likely recognize (which could be summed up as low-brow, sensationalistic, patronizing, left-leaning, and plastered in neon glitter). Thus, we share this information in the spirit of cataloguing the multifaceted phenomenon (the pace, tone, and veracity) of disclosure taking place throughout numerous “genres” of news media. We find it interesting that this piece is not nearly as dismissive as similar pieces written in similar publications, which are often designed to ridicule and attack “weird” ideas. Without overtly confirming nor denying the UFO phenomenon, Metro has decided to take a surprisingly unbiased approach towards discussing the infamous Rendlesham forest incident, in which it is alleged that men were abducted by a UFO.
Unfortunately, such open-mindedness is not characteristic of a great deal of their publications. But hey! Who knows what goes on at Metro, or CNN, or Fox, or Buzzfeed? Maybe we are witnessing the first iterations of what will become a positive trend? I for one hope so.

It’s one of the most famous incidents in British UFO folklore – an eerie incident in 1980 where two American Army personnel claimed to encounter a strange ‘metallic triangle’ near Suffolk.
In 1980, U.S. Army personnel stationed near Rendlesham in Suffolk claim to have seen a strange, metallic triangle which was ‘dripping molten metal’ – and witnessed a light like a ‘huge red eye’.
Unlike most UFO sightings, it was documented in voice recordings from senior American soldiers, who also drew disturbing pictures of the object they saw. One witness claimed to have telepathically ‘received’ a binary code, which has never been deciphered.

Colonel Charles Halt’s original description read: ‘While in Rendlesham Forest, our security team observed a light that looked like a large eye, red in colour, moving through the trees. After a few minutes this object began dripping something that looked like molten metal.’
