Is The U.S. Going To Transition From Stagflation Directly Into A Full-Blown Economic Depression?

Saturday, April 30, 2022 By Stillness in the Storm 1 Comment

(Michael Snyder) Should the fact that the U.S. economy actually contracted during the first quarter actually surprise any of us?  Since the start of 2022, there has been crisis after crisis, and now the war in Ukraine is depressing economic activity all over the planet.  What we are facing could most definitely be described as a “perfect storm”, and the truth is that this storm isn’t going to go away anytime soon.  But where do we go from here?  Will the U.S. economy bounce back, or will this new economic downturn soon become even worse?  Most economic optimists are assuming that the former will be true, while many economic realists are issuing dire warnings about what is ahead.

Sunday, October 31, 2021 By Stillness in the Storm Leave a Comment

(S.D. Wells) By now, most people have figured out that lockdowns don’t work. They’re horrible for people’s health, horrible for the economy, and horrible for family members trapped under one roof with each other for extended periods of time. Domestic violence has skyrocketed during the pandemic lockdowns along with suicide rates. People’s finances have plummeted due to closed and limited business functionality, job losses, cut backs and rising inflation. Children and teenagers have lost most or all ability to socialize because schools have shifted to virtual learning, or require the kids to wear masks all day and stay 6 feet away from their peers.
