(Jonathan Davis) One of Joe Biden’s nominees for a crucial economic post once said she wished that oil and gas companies in the U.S. would be bankrupted in order to improve the fight against climate change.

The Western Journal notes:

Saule Omarova, the administration’s dubious pick for comptroller of the currency, is a radical by pretty much anyone’s definition. Up for a job that would put her in charge of regulating the country’s largest banks, she published a paper earlier this year with a proposal to “end banking as we know it,” as the New York Post reported.

And, as a video now circulating online shows, she’s on record desiring the destruction of the nation’s fossil fuel industries.

“Here what I’m thinking about is primarily coal industry and oil and gas industry. A lot of the smaller players in that industry are going to probably go bankrupt in short order, at least we want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change,” Omarova says in the clip, which was discovered by the American Accountability Foundation (AAF).

Omarova made her comments at the Jain Family Institute’s 2021 Social Wealth Seminar in March.

Steve Guest, a communications official for Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, wrote: “Joe Biden’s nominee for the Comptroller of the Currency Saule Omarova on oil, coal and gas industries: ‘We want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change.’ Those industries are responsible for MILLIONS of Americans’ paychecks.
Other Republicans also blasted Omarova’s comments as well as Biden for picking her.

“This unhinged socialist wants millions of Americans who work in the energy industry to go bankrupt. And Joe Biden picked her as his top banking nominee,” said Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

“I don’t need to fly to Glasgow to recognize crazy,” added Rep. Chip Roy of Texas.

“Biden nominee eager to drive small operators out of business, and kick the workers they employ to the curb. If we don’t stop them, Americans will pay dearly for their rigid ideology,” said Steve Law, CEO Senate Leadership Fund.

AAF Founder Thomas Jones said in an interview with The Daily Caller: “At the end of the day, these are people’s lives, people are going to lose their jobs because she’s going to support policies that are there to drive them out of work.

“It’s people who are not going to be able to send their kids to college, who will not be able to make their mortgage payment because Saule Omarova has a classical Marxist view where she wants the government to run all sectors of the economy and part of that is implementing the Green New Deal. And you can only do that by destroying the oil and gas industry,” Jones added.

Omarova is reportedly very far left in her views; she also refuses to release her thesis on Marxism that she wrote while attending college in the then-Soviet Union, as Fox Business notes:

Saule Omarova was born in the Soviet Union in what is now called Kazakhstan and graduated from Moscow State University in 1989. She has pointed to the USSR’s practices as recently as 2019, when she tweeted about the gender pay gap, citing the USSR as a better model.

U.S. Senate Banking Committee Ranking Member Pat Toomey, R-Pa., last week asked Omarova to turn over a copy of her thesis – in both English and the original Russian – for review by the committee no later than Oct. 13. Her thesis, titled “Karl Marx’s Economic Analysis and the Theory of Revolution in The Capital,” remains an item of interest to some members on the committee. …

Omarova had not complied with the request as of Thursday, Oct. 14, a spokesperson for Senate Banking Committee Republicans claimed.
