(Abby Cahoone) This day and age many of us have become accustomed to playing victim to what happens around us. We may feel nothing is our fault and whatever happens is completely up to chance, or we blame the “big bad world” that’s out to get us for whatever we face. But our minds hold so much more power than we think.

What Does it Mean to “Live Consciously”?
To live consciously simply means that you are aware of what you are doing and where your focus is. So often we live on autopilot and do the same things day in and day out, we create habits of action and thought with this consistent repetition. When this happens we stop responding to circumstances and we start reacting (out of habit) to circumstances. If you respond to something, you are taking mindful steps to move through it. When you react to something, you give your control up to what is happening and mindlessly thinking and speaking whatever you are used to. This is not always bad, but when you get into a situation you don’t like, but find yourself in often, you may want to take a look at your thoughts around it to see if you are reacting out of habit or mindfully responding with an open mind.
By becoming more conscious of yourself, and more aware of your thoughts and focus, you will find that all the control you could ever need is actually inside of your own mind.
The Mind is a Powerful Muscle.
We are for the most part always thinking. As we do this we are unconsciously (or consciously when we become aware of this) shifting our realities and the things we experience.
This was proven during the famous double slit experiment where a beam of light was projected to shine through two closely- spaced parallel slits to shine to a screen that sat behind them. It was theorized that, because light consists of wave particles, due to diffraction, it would produce a series of alternating bright and dark stripes on the back screen, where the light waves are either reinforced or canceled out. This occurred in many slits projected onto the screen. However, when being observed it was noticed that if the quantum particles were sent through the slit one by one, though they have nothing to interfere with, the interference pattern was still happening. It seemed as though instead of taking one path the particle was taking both paths.
They then decided to place a detector inside of each slit to detect which path was being taken. After this happened the interference pattern disappeared. It was the observation alone that changed the entire outcome of the experiment.
There are many other experiments that prove that our mere observation can change an outcome. But just in understanding that the mind is the most powerful muscle we have, we can begin to use it to our advantage by slowing down and being more mindful and aware of what is going on within it.

Ask, Believe, Receive.
This is a 3 step method utilized by many people who are trying to manifest specific or generally better things in their lives. It’s pretty simple in practice!
Ask
You do this without even needing to be aware of what you are asking for. All our lives when we go through experiences we are always asking for something better or something we prefer. Or we are asking for more of the things that we enjoy. You can consciously ask using things like vision boards, journaling, and visualizing. Any way you feel that resonates to make a clear-cut request from “the Universe”, “source”, “God” (whatever you want to call a higher power) is a way of asking.
Believe
This one is one of the most important parts of the process. If you do not believe you can have something, you will find it very hard/ impossible to come into your life and stay there. Believing that your desires and the dream life you want to have is possible is almost half the process to getting what you want. So when you think about the things you want, pay attention to what you believe about them. If your thought process about money is “money is so hard for me to get” or “I never make enough, I’m always broke” those are some pretty strong beliefs that you may want to release. What you continuously focus on will grow, you will continue to see evidence of it as you focus on it. This is why paying attention to the things you believe in is important to keep in mind.
Receive
This step you would think can be pretty easy, receive what you want. And it can be, but if your step 2 (believe) is not in place when the time comes to receive what you want, you will find it comes in either the wrong form, or you won’t be able to hang on to your manifestation.
Be Deliberate.
The best way to feel more in control is to live deliberately, to be purposeful.
The Definition of deliberate is
adjective:
carefully weighed or considered; studied; intentional
Verb:
to think carefully or attentively; reflect
Don’t get stuck on autopilot and accidentally take thinking out of the process! Pay attention to why you are doing something in the first place. Pay attention to what is coming up for you and what it could possibly be teaching you. When you become aware and conscious you get all the power you feel you don’t have back.
Your thoughts are energy, your words are energy, and your action has an energy behind it. Like attracts like, you will receive what you are- not what you want. Being more deliberate of what you say, what you think, and how you respond to things can cause for a lot of positive shifts in your life.
