The 45th President of the United States is apparently relishing his role as “kingmaker” by, so far, issuing near 40 endorsements for Republicans running in elections in 2021 and 2022 for governor, senator, and down-ballot races, Fox News reported.

“Once again former President Trump is proving to march to the beat of his own drums,” vice president of academic affairs at New England College, Wayne Lesperance said, calling the number of Trump endorsements so far this year “unheard of in recent political memory.”

The former president’s political endorsements come as the GOP aims to win back majorities in the House of Representatives and Senate in the 2022 midterm elections. Sometimes Trump’s endorsements are in sync with Republican leaders in Congress, and sometimes they’re divergent. And often they’re bestowed on those Republicans who support his repeated unfounded claims that the 2020 presidential election was “rigged” and “stolen” from him. Among them are secretary of state candidates in Arizona, Georgia, and Michigan, three states Trump narrowly lost last year to now-President Biden.

Regardless of the circumstances, Trump’s backing carries an incredible amount of clout within the GOP.

“President Trump’s endorsement is the most powerful and sought-after endorsement in the history of American politics,” Taylor Budowich, who served as the communications director for Trump’s leadership PAC, said. “He will continue to identify and support strong candidates who will advocate for his America First agenda in Congress and statehouses across the nation.”

His most recent endorsement came for the primary challenger to anti-Trump Republican Congresswoman, Rep. Liz Cheney.

“I strongly endorse Republican House of Representatives Candidate Harriet Hageman from Wyoming who is running against warmonger and disloyal Republican, Liz Cheney. Harriet is a fourth-generation daughter of Wyoming, a very successful attorney, and has the support and respect of a truly great U.S. Senator, Wyoming’s own Cynthia Lummis. Harriet Hageman adores the Great State of Wyoming, is strong on Crime and Borders, powerfully supports the Second Amendment, loves our Military and our Vets, and will fight for Election Integrity and Energy Independence (which Biden has already given up). Unlike RINO Liz Cheney, Harriet is all in for America First. Harriet has my Complete and Total Endorsement in replacing the Democrats’ number one provider of sound bites, Liz Cheney. Make America Great Again!” he said.

He has used other endorsements to go after Republicans that he considers RINOs, or Republicans in name only.

“It is my great honor to endorse Michigan State Representative Steve Carra to oppose RINO Congressman Fred Upton. Upton has not done the job that our Country needs, for years has talked about leaving office and not running again, and he voted for Impeachment of the President of the United States on rigged up charges. He doesn’t deserve to keep his seat. Steve Carra, on the other hand, is strong on Crime, Borders, and loves our Military and our Vets. Steve will continue to fight for Low Taxes and all of the other things that the Great people of Michigan want and need. Steve Carra has my Complete and Total Endorsement!” he said in an email from his Save America PAC on September 7.

And last week he praised retired Gen. Don Bolduc, the only declared Republican in the New Hampshire race for senator against Democrat Sen. Maggie Hassan as national Republicans have been working to recruit Gov. Chris Sununu.

During interview on “Fox & Friends,” Bolduc shredded Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley.

“I was on a call talking to a supporter and I saw a call come in and I looked at it and it said ‘wireless caller West Palm Beach’,” he said.

He said that he and Trump spoke for around 15 minutes and Trump said to him, “Don, I just wanted to give you a call and tell you I think you’re doing a great job out there. … I think you’re a leader out there and I wanted to give you some recognition.”

But sources close to Trump say that the phone call should not be considered an endorsement.
