() The White House has slammed Fox News on Monday following comments made by Fox personality Rachel Campos-Duffy about First Lady Jill Biden, whom she partially blamed for the disaster in Afghanistan.

Jill Biden’s press secretary, Michael La Rosa, blasted Fox News on social media, calling Campos-Duffy’s comments “disgusting.”
“This is disgusting. @RCampusDuffy and @FoxNews know better. They can do better and their viewers deserve better,” wrote La Rosa on Twitter. “I hope they’ll apologize to the First Lady and leave this kind of talk in the [trash] where it belongs.”
Over the weekend, at the end of a segment on Biden’s steadily plummeting poll numbers amid Biden’s evacuation of US forces from Afghanistan, one of the hosts stated that the president’s handling of the human rights crisis was diminishing America in the eyes of the world.
Campos-Duffy agreed, noting “When you look at what’s hurting America when you look at this lack of leadership, and you wonder who is responsible for putting someone this incompetent and frankly this mentally frail in this position? As a political spouse, I can’t help but look at Jill Biden.”
As the Daily Mail notes, the Fox News contributor’s husband is former Wisconsin Rep. Sean Duffy, who served in Congress until 2019. Duffy also works for Fox News.
Duffy was well respected as a supporter of former President Donald Trump. Both he and his wife criticized Biden on the campaign trail and repeatedly questioned his mental and physical stamina, which has been the subject of scrutiny.
As Conservative Brief reported in June, Texas Republican Rep. Dr. Ronny Jackson, the former White House doctor for both president Obama and Trump, who is now a Congressman, expressed serious concerns about Biden’s cognitive ability and called to have it checked.
Jackson noted that Biden looked “very confused, very frail, very weak, and it just does not inspire confidence.”
“He’s always made gaffes here or there, but this is something different. This is repeated times where he can’t remember exactly what’s going on, where he’s at, what he’s doing, he looks confused…he just kind of stares off into space,” he said during an interview with the Todd Starnes Show. “It’s time to get his physical exam done and that should include cognitive testing.”
Speaking on Sunday, Campos-Duffy said that no one other than Biden’s wife, Jill, knows better his state of mind, noting the First Lady’s doctorate in education.
“And If you ask me, the most patriotic thing Jill Biden could have done was tell her husband — to love her husband — and not let him run in this mental state that he’s in. I think she failed the country as well,” said Campos-Duffy.
According to a poll by Rasmussen Reports, 52 percent of Americans say they are not confident in Biden’s ability to fulfill his tasks as President, the Daily Mail reported.
Forty-one percent of those surveyed said they are “not confident at all.”
Some 46 percent of respondents say they are confident in his mental and physical capabilities.
At the ripe old age of 78, Joe Biden is the oldest president to be sworn into the Oval Office.
Concerns over his mental and physical wellbeing were amplified when he chose Vice-President Kamala Harris to be his running mate, with critics predicting that Harris would control the operation.
Rasmussen reports poll data suggests that 51 percent of those responding believe others are making the decisions for Biden, and only 39 percent think he’s in charge.

Over the past week, Biden’s overall favorability has dropped below 50 percent for the first time since he took office in January.
According to FiveThirtyEight, Biden’s job approval-disapproval rating stands at 42.2 to 46.4.
His wife is slightly more favorable to the public according to YouGov at 50 percent.
