(Jim Hoft) During the city council meeting last week, a patriot from Rocky Mount, North Carolina, criticized Durham officials for lacking leadership and courage to do what’s right.

The city of Durham conducted a public hearing for the city manager’s proposed budget for the fiscal year 2022-2023, and fiscal year 2023-2028 Capital Improvement Plan.
One of the people who shared his grievances was former mayoral candidate Jahnmaud Lane.
Jahnmaud Lane ran for Mayor of Durham in North Carolina. Unfortunately, he lost in the primary on October 5, 2021.
On his Facebook page, Lane stated that his goal is to bring a spotlight to the problems of Durham.
According to Lane, white supremacy and segregation are not the problems. The real problem is in the black community.
“We have a problem in the black community and you need to address it. Black male, black police chief, black chair, black district attorney, and who are the ones laying on the street bleeding down and getting shot? Black folk!” Lane rebuked.
“The problem is, are you man enough or woman enough to address the community,” he concluded.
Read the excerpt of Lane speech during the council meeting:
To Durham and all this shooting in Durham, and people telling me we don’t need it.
I’m from Rocky Mount in North Carolina, where you were talking about where it comes from.
It doesn’t work if you don’t have a prosecutor who won’t prosecute. Santana Dewberry has been an absolute disaster for Durham.
People are talking about Chicago and they’re talking about how it doesn’t work in Chicago. Yeah, because they’re not prosecuting people. If you’re not going to prosecute people, it’s not going to do any good.
And please don’t talk about equity and laws that are targeting black folk. No, these laws are targeting killers. These laws are targeting people who are destroying our community.
In the 1990s, people complain about the 1994 crime bill. Well, it was black folk that went to the Democrat Party. I’m a Republican. I got to admit, it was black folk that went to the Democrat Party [and] asked to do something about our communities because they’re shooting and killing in here and they came up with the crime bill and it saved lives.
You cannot sit here and save lives by just wishing it away, saying white supremacy is the problem, segregation is the problem. That’s not the problem. We have a problem in the black community and you need to address it. Black male, black police chief, black chair, black district attorney, and who are the ones laying on the street bleeding down and getting shot? Black folk!
So when you sit here, ask the question, how many black people you got work at your business, really? You had a school bus, had to run off the road, and you said it’s because of poverty. It’s not poverty!
It’s a problem in the black community that you have to address. The problem is, are you man enough or woman enough to address the community.
Lane revealed on his Youtube account, Mind of Jamal, that the Durham City manager called him a “jerk” right after his speech for speaking up the truth.

Last month, Lane posted a video on his Facebook account attacking Durham’s officials, including district attorney Santana Dewberry and chief police.
“The criminals in the street get more protection from DA Santa Dewberry than our children on school buses,” Lane stated.
