(Steve Watson) Podcast king Joe Rogan and his guest, surfer Shane Dorian, pointed out the environmental damage that face masks will have, while simultaneously highlighting that the face coverings do little or nothing to prevent the spread of COVID.

Rogan continued, “Masks are like the Democrats’ MAGA hat. You wear it to make people feel comfortable. I know it’s illogical, and I’m fine wearing it if it relaxes people, and makes them feel better. But if people want to argue that they do something, it just doesn’t make any sense man. It doesn’t make any sense.”
“I don’t even know if they work. I don’t think they do,” Rogan continued, adding “I mean maybe they stop spittle from getting into someone. If you can get your finger in the side of it, and air is coming out.”
“I just feel like it’s one of those things where we accepted early on. And now we’re just pretending it’s somehow or another protective,” Rogan continued, adding “But at the end of the day it’s really just a piece of paper over your mouth and you’re breathing perfectly through it, so like how does that work?”
As previously noted, several studies have shown masks are ineffective at preventing the virus spreading.
Meanwhile, instances of littering with face masks and other PPE surged by 9000 percent during the first seven months of the coronavirus pandemic, and may have even helped the virus to spread more rapidly.
In addition, a previous report by environmental group OceansAsia found that 1.5 billion face masks are expected to be dumped into the sea in just one year.
According to the group, the masks will contribute an estimated 7,000 tons of plastic to the oceans which are thought to already contain 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic, and 46,000 larger pieces in every square mile of water.
Divers in the Philippines have discovered single use face masks and other PPE covering precious coral reefs and being consumed by marine life as the impact of lockdown restrictions takes its toll on the environment.
