As The LA Times reports, a series of loud booms that rocked downtown LA on Monday night startled some people, but LAPD said there was no need to be concerned, as the noises were part of a U.S. Army training exercise involving aircraft and weapon simulations in urban settings.
The training is set to run through Saturday in Los Angeles and Long Beach.
“Residents may hear sounds associated with the training, including aircraft and weapon simulations” the LAPD said in a news release.
“Each location selected enables special operations teams and flight crews to maintain maximum readiness and proficiency, validate equipment and exercise standard safety procedures.
The training is essential to ensure service members are fully trained and prepared to defend our nation overseas.”

The army also noted that:
“The local terrain and training facilities in Los Angeles provide the Army with unique locations and simulates urban environments the service members may encounter when deployed overseas.
“There is no replacement for realistic training.”

I was in the Army back in the 90’s, so the rules might have changed. However, from the video above, I’d have to say this can’t be training, flying choppers that close to buildings at those altitudes is too dangerous for civilians. There are very strict rules about altitude in civilian areas for public safety. (Not the soldiers no, but the public yes.) If it was one chopper that low, ok it was just a show off hoping not to get in trouble, but 3-4 in a row is a formation following planned maneuvers most likely. Maybe the rules are different for spec-ops.
Also those are what we call “littlebirds” (MH-6’s) a rare and older bird in the Army. We use them for several things, but mostly involving spec-ops. They were like rare super-stars when I was in, if you saw one of these it meant spec-ops were involved. Regular Army uses big ‘ol Blackhawks for these kinds of operations.
So in my old, tin-foil protected, conspiracy laden mind, it sure looks like something big is going down in L.A. I’d hope it was pedovores being taken into custody.
My advice is pray for our troops in harm’s way if your so inclined, or meditate or send well-wishes, or what ever you are best at. I could be wrong, of course, but I think these guys are on hot-ops.
