Trump made an appearance on Fox News daytime.
Donald Trump said it was a “great honor” to give the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh, adding it was “something special” on an “incredible night” during the State of the Union Address.
“Half the room went crazy and the other half of the room, they knew he should get it,” he said.
“When was the last time you spoke with Rush Limbaugh?” Bill Hemmer asked during the Fox News interview.
“Three or four days ago,” he replied. “I called him just to find out, you know, his fight was very, very courageous. He was very, very sick. And you know, from diagnosis on, it was just something that was not going to be beaten.”
“But, you wouldn’t know it and he is married to an incredible woman, Kathryn, who really, everytime I spoke to him, he would tell me how great she was, she took such great care,” he said.
Trump also gave an interview on a separate show “Hannity.”
“Rush was really special, he was a very special guy,” Trump said. “You said ‘irreplaceable’ and it’s true he is irreplaceable.”
Donald Trump appeared on Newsmax with Greg Kelly.
“We lost a great one today,” Trump said. “Rush was just a unique character, and a great friend to all of us. So, we lost a really great gentlemen today.”
Trump was also asked about the notion that someone could step in and fill the void on conservative talk radio now that Rush had departed.
“A lot of people are mentioning that, and no it’s not something I’ve thought about,” he responded. “He’d be a hard one to replace.”
“You wouldn’t want to follow Rush. It’s the old story, you get somebody like that, you don’t want to follow them, because some things just can’t be done. He was unique.”
OANN also hosted an interview with Jenn Pellegrino. Video was not immediately forthcoming, however, OANN reported Alex Salvi provided interview notes.
