(Ryan DeLarme) Sometimes it seems as though the news is more concerned with telling folks what to think instead of how to think, this piece by CBS appears to be doing just that. The headline alone alludes to a dramatic misunderstanding of the entire philosophy behind the movement in even suggesting that there is some sort of hierarchy.
It may be safe to say that the casual observer has a better understanding of the famed “Qanon” movement than those who get paid the big bucks to be second rate journalists. Is this out of ignorance or is it by design? Do these legacy media institutions prefer seasoned, thorough journalists or do they rely on those who “write what they’re told”? We’ll let you decide.
Justin, the founder of Stillness, had this to say:
Some things to keep in mind:
Is the way the talking head characterized QAnon accurate? Why didn’t they prove that their characterization is true by citing QAnon posts? Why doesn’t mainstream media ever quote Q to prove their reporting is accurate?
For the Dustin Nemos interview, why didn’t the reporter dig into his claims so we could examine them ourselves? Why didn’t she cite his evidence? Why did she rest her whole case on her personal experiences?
These questions will help you get a sense of how disinformation propaganda, AKA Fake News, is designed to work.
It’s meant to make you the reader believe in the authority of the news outlet without any facts or evidence to back it up. If you dare question the news authorities, you’re ridiculed, like Dustin Nemos was.
When it comes to discernment, the gold standard is to review a claim or story or body of information by honestly reviewing the evidence and claim offered as an explanation.
If Q really is what the MSM says, a “wild conspiracy theory that Trump is saving the world from democrats who are running global child sex trafficking rings” why don’t they just show the Q posts that say that? In short, it’s because that’s a mischaracterization. Q has never said that this is what’s going on, at least not in that way.
When discerning a body information, always got the bottom first, go directly to the source, the data, the raw evidence, and try to look with your own eyes. The MSM avoids showing the Q posts themselves because this would invalidate their characterization. They want you to believe in their false characterization so they can strawman the information.
Strawmanning is when someone misrepresents someone or something and then makes fun or downplays the real situation by using the false version as a smearing tool.
For instance, if your roommate forgot to take out the trash, they might falsely present the story as if the trash truck showed up hours earlier than it should have, this way you believe them when they say they didn’t do anything wrong. You agree with the “straw manned” version of the story, which is a distortion designed specifically to get you to buy into the one your roommate wants to gain sympathy.
The same tactic is used with QAnon, and almost every other topic that counters the official Deep State narrative.
With Q, they misrepresent the real material, finding the craziest unhinged stories around it, and then falsely claiming that these stories are what Q is about. To do this they need to avoid showing you what Q actually talks about or discouraging you from looking into yourself. For the second part, they use shame and ridicule. Notice in this story that the reporter interviewing Dustin Nemos talks to him, not about Q, but about COVID. She makes dismissive looks at the camera when he says things they want you to disagree with. This is a subtle way to persuade you to avoid looking into it yourself, or else, you too might be ridiculed.
These are just a few techniques they use to smear honest researchers. What other methods can you think of?
Here’s the CBS piece.

Stillness in the Storm Editor: Why did we post this?
The preceding information is an update from one of the many alternative media persons driven to help humanity by providing important information. Updates of this sort, as cursory as they are, help individuals feel connected to the greater works taking place at this time as well as providing a personal glimpse into the mind of a content creator. It also serves to humanize such individuals and reveal to the public that alternative media is largely populated by people that work long hours providing information usually for free or for little financial compensation.
