(Awareness Act) Take a look at the GIF below for yourself. Do you hear it?
by Staff Writer, May 20th, 2019
If you do, you are not alone. In fact, 70% of people are able to hit the tall, metal structure actually thudding each time it hits the ground. If you aren’t used to GIFS, they are silent but moving images that don’t include sound. However, there is a reason for this strange phenomenon, according to science.

The gif was originally created Twitter user Happy Toast and has steadily gained the attention of scientists curious to how people were able to hear the image. One scientist, Lisa Debruine, started a poll to obtain the percentage of people who encountered this phenomenon. At the moment, around 70% of people are able to hear the image.
Christopher Fassnidge, who is a doctoral candidate in Psychology at City, University of London, believes this image is an illusion of synesthesia, or when the senses in our brain get crossed.
“I hear a vibrating thudding sound, and it also cuts out my tinnitus during the camera shake.” One person explained when trying to respond to Debruin’es post.
“My gut says the camera shake is responsible for the entire effect. Anything that shook the camera like that, would probably make the ‘thud’ sound,” posted another Twitter user.
As one of the many to hear the image, I too heard a thudding sound. However, some of my friends and family members could and couldn’t hear it. Do you hear the image?
Does anyone in visual perception know why you can hear this gif? pic.twitter.com/mcT22Lzfkp

Stillness in the Storm Editor: Why did we post this?
Consciousness is one of the most mysterious phenomena of all time. Scientists, philosophers, and mystics have been searching for the answer to the question, What is Consciousness? for most of human history. In modern times, the spiritual origins of consciousness are being replaced with a materialistic view, that awareness emerges as an additive property of electrical impulses in living things. Despite the fact this theory is assumed to be true, any self-respecting psychologist will tell you we have no idea what consciousness really is. The preceding article discusses consciousness, some of its properties, and possible origins. This is helpful to contemplate because, in the act of trying to understand the mysteries of consciousness, you develop critical thinking skills and stimulate your philosophic muscles, both which are immensely important for almost everything we do in life. Additionally, you’ll develop abstract thinking skills, the ability to explore intangible realities that govern material realms. With the power of an active mind capable of navigating the realities of consciousness, great leaps in personal attainment can be made along with preparing you for the Great Work of making this world a better place.
