(Stillness in the Storm Editor) Mind influence is a real thing. A person’s character and behavior are determined by what they believe and focus on, what they are exposed to in life generates ideas and impressions, beliefs that govern a person’s behavior. Psychologically, there are two ways to deal with mind influence: 1) you can learn how to think for yourself, and form your own opinions or 2) you can mindlessly accept the beliefs of others. The second choice results in a highly triggered and emotionally reactive person that is literally programmed by another, what is now popularly known as an NPC.

The term NPC comes from the video game world, particularly fantasy games that involve a player interacting with programmed characters called non-player characters, hence NPC.
The pejorative or insult of NPC specifically refers to social justice warriors, but more specifically addresses the ideologically possessed masses who fancy themselves activists yet often don’t personally understand the basis of their activism, not truly.
A great many scholars, researchers, and commentators have begun to identify a rather vapid and uninformed population of activists, who usually discuss things like instantiated patriarchy, neo-feminism, male toxicity, white privilege, cultural appropriation, the gender pay gap, oppressed non-whites, and so on. These activists are manufactured in the sense that Universities have taken up the charge of essentially educating and training a generation of activists, people who feel the world is corrupt and that they are uniquely capable of thwarting corruption.

It all sounds rather inspiring on its face, and it is from a grand spiritual outlook on the progressive spiritualization of earth. People with a moral inclination, who care about making the world a better place, rightly should look out into the world, see corruption and want to do something about it. But here’s the problem: in the vast majority of cases, they lack epistemological certainty, they lack intrinsic knowledge and understanding. What this does is cause extreme emotional investment in the belief, to the extent that a person becomes hypersensitive and easily triggered into a fight or flight response.
In other words, they have a religious zealot like fervor and passion for their chosen sociopolitical issue, but the basis of their belief in this issue isn’t there’s, it comes from a college professor or some ideological guru. This is effectively equivalent to a form of radical religious movement, which historically, are often the most violent and destructive.
ANTIFA and Black Lives Matter are two groups largely populated with SJW types, who, again, are passionate about making the world a better place but were conscripted into a nefarious and violent agenda to express it. For example, none other than color revolution Marxist George Soros is connected to ANTIFA.
What does this mean? Simply put, it confirms what many have said for years, and the powers that be know all too well, you can, indeed, program a person like a computer, you can train them to bypass their executive function to effectively become an NPC, a mindless drone.

What makes this possible?
Choice.
The mind gains resistance to influence by gaining mental discipline, gaining mastery over itself via persistent dedication and willpower.
You either learn to master your mind or someone else will, it’s really that simple.
The ability to resist temptation, impulses, and delay gratification so you can accomplish your goals is the benefit of a mastered mind. Everything you do in life that makes your life better comes through your ability to direct your mind in a coherent and effective way to get goals accomplished.
But what happens when you lack mind mastery? What happens when your emotions run wild and are constantly plaguing you with intensity? The executive function of the mind withdraws, and we become extremely susceptible to suggestion. Additionally, a lack of mental mastery also results in a low self-appraisal, leading to low self-worth in social circles. As a result, you’re more susceptible to groupthink and social pressure. A person who lacks mental mastery will be much more likely to go along with the herd, even if it goes against their personal sense of right and wrong, so as to avoid social ostracization. This social programming works by creating an impression a person’s mind that they are not part of an in-group, and therefore, they feel pressured to do whatever they can to be accepted. The more aggressive and judgemental the group, the more likely it is to entice people who fear rejection—an excellent example of the colloquialism “if you can’t be them join them.”
These conditions result in the training of highly programmable people who are easily triggered into an emotional frenzy. Once triggered, the rational mind completely shuts down, and a herd like mentality sets in, resulting in mob violence when in group situations.

I’ve personally spoken to several SJW’s, as recently as last week. I wanted to understand their psychology and motivations. I also wanted to gain first-hand knowledge of what they are like as people—instead of just resting my conclusions on what commentators say.
I was encouraged by what I encountered. Contrary to most anti-SJW rhetoric, these are real people with unique views and perspectives. That said, I did observe that most of them have only an extrinsic command of the information related to their chosen issue.
I had several conversations with four separate individuals over the course of three hours.
When asked about the problems our world faces, they almost all said capitalism, patriarchy, white privilege, and oppression of minorities. But when probed for deeper understanding, like asking “What do you think the ultimate solution is?” or “How do you think these problems arose, (probing beyond the usual response of “patriarchy”)?” Almost everyone floundered when asked questions beyond the standard rhetoric. One person, who was previously very passionate and vocal about their beliefs, completely stumbled to a standstill when I ask them about how we protect people’s rights. They literally stammered for five minutes, umming and ahhing the entire time, only to ask me what I meant by the term right as if it had never crossed their mind before.
I don’t share this as an attempt to belittle SJWs, I actually have a lot of compassion for them.
I share this because the idea a person can be an NPC, effectively a vessel for social conditioning, is very real. It’s jarring to talk to someone who’s so underdeveloped that it’s as if you’re speaking to a computer program, but these people exist, probably more than we like to think.
How do we deal with them?
Rage and hatred aren’t viable options, of course. I’d say a Socratic method of taking a genuine interest in them combined with asking honest questions is a good place to start. These people care about making the world better and are unfortunately victims of social programming. I would argue they deserve our compassion as people, yet our defense as promoters of ideas.
By that I mean, we can forgive the individual while addressing the bad ideas giving life to bad behaviors. Fighting people with hatred and slinging insults usually only makes the division worse. And considering the SJW types are already extremely emotionally unstable, fueling the fire of that instability likely makes the societal effects worse.

Odds are, there are SJWs all around you.
To expand the NPC concept, even more, there are most certainly throngs of people out there who lack mental mastery. Most of the population of the planet is working on social programming and conditioning they received over the course of their entire lives. Thus, if we truly want to contend with the problem of waking up the masses, we’ll have to contend with the lack of mind mastery in the general population. The NPC problem isn’t going to go away, and it seems to be getting worse.
I think it’s prudent to start with yourself. Do you have mind mastery? Are you reevaluating your beliefs and discerning properly? Are you questioning long-held beliefs and unsubstantiated emotional reactions? Do you do self-work and humble yourself when you discover you were wrong or acting unthinkingly?
The truth is, we all have a lot of work to do. Let’s ensure we do that while also taking up the social work of helping others. Often exemplifying a better way is one of the most effective methods of helping others see the light.

(Brandon Morse) If you’ve ever picked up a video game that features other characters that are controlled by the computer, then you’ve run into non-player characters or NPC’s.
by Brandon Morse, October 15th, 2018
NPC’s serve a host of different functions depending on what the program you’re playing with needs them for. They’re the villagers in Skyrim, Toad from Super Mario Brothers, and the ghosts in Pac-Man. NPC’s may have dialogue, patterns, and personality, but at the end of the day, they’re just a program with pre-set behavioral patterns decided for them by a developer.
Now let’s pretend we’re taking this article from the top…

If you’ve ever stepped onto a college campus or a protest demonstration that features people with neon colored hair screaming at the top of their lungs about identity politics or a social concern then you’ve run into a social justice warrior or SJW.
SJWs serve a host of different functions depending on what activists, politicians and the media need them for. They’re the crazed people trying to beat down the Supreme Court door, the Antifa members threatening motorists, or the male-feminist roundhousing a woman for expressing pro-life views. SJW’s may have dialogue, patterns, and personality, but at the end of the day, they’re just a program with pre-set behavioral patterns decided for them by professors, activist groups, or the media.
The comparison between NPC’s and SJW’s is pretty striking and simultaneously hilarious.

SJW’s aren’t known for their individualism. All of their beliefs seem to be uniform no matter which college or protest you go to. Even if you bring the facts that debunk their beliefs, they can’t or won’t deviate from “their truth.” They think what they’re told with seemingly no capacity for critical analysis, and once their dialogue tree runs out on a certain subject they either clam up or being shouting a phrase over and over again like “BLACK LIVES MATTER,” “HEY HEY HO HO (insert thing) HAS GOT TO GO,” or “NO JUSTICE NO PEACE!”
You get the idea.
This is awfully reminiscent of the way NPC’s interact with gamers in the virtual world. Outside the bounds of what the programmers gave them, the NPC’s aren’t capable of doing much else. Talk to one enough and eventually, they’ll run out of things to say, and begin repeating the same phrase over and over again. They even made a joke about it in the Jumanji sequel.
Since the gaming community is no stranger to the behavior of SJW’s thanks to the GamerGate movement, it was probably only a matter of time before someone made the connection between the behaviors of the preprogrammed NPC’s and the indoctrinated SJWs.
Thus the NPC meme was born, and gamers have been referring to SJWs as NPCs with hilarious effect.
Interestingly, the same SJW’s that weren’t long ago calling gamers “sock puppets” in order to dehumanize and devalue them for speaking out against identity politics in gaming are now offended that gamers are using the NPC term to insult them.

Kotaku, one of the most social justice laden news outlets in the gaming industry actually had the lack of self-awareness to release an article titled “How The ‘NPC’ Meme Tries To Dehumanize ‘SJWs’” wherein the author assumedly didn’t stop after writing the following paragraph and after a moment’s self-reflection asked “…are we the baddies?”
It’s one thing to claim that a person’s strongly-held views are informed by nothing at all, but entirely another to imply that they’re completely on auto-pilot. That is dehumanization, a way of reconceiving your enemies as objects, pawns, strawmen, tools. At best, dismissing large swaths of people you disagree with this way betrays a lack of empathy for people whose experiences differ from yours, and an unwillingness to consider that if a vast number of people happen to agree over something, it may be good to examine why; at best, it is a great utility for spreading bogus conspiracy theories.
While I’m in full belief that even SJWs have the capacity for rational and critical thought, the fact that they choose not to employ it, even in the face of brutal facts, earns them the label of NPC. If your entire identity revolves around the superficial, and your entire belief system revolves around instructions from someone else, then you’re about as good as a computer program. If you won’t engage in civil debate, and instead scream tired phrases at people when you run out of things to say, then there’s no person there, just a shell that somebody else is speaking through.
NPC.
