On Texas Republican lawmaker, State. Rep. Briscoe Cain, said that he is not convinced that the Democrats are not using this as a gimmick to avoid coming back to the state, Fox News reported.

“It’s disingenuous, they’re lying and they are playing games with the people of Texas,” the Republican and chair of the House Elections Committee said.

“Anyone that reads it,” he said in reference to the voting rights bill that caused the Democrats to escape to Washington, DC to avoid the bill being passed, “realizes it doesn’t criminalize mistakes, it expands voting access, it expands hours, and protects our elections. That’s it.”

He said that the Democrats will eventually have to return to Texas, where Gov. Greg Abbott has promised to have them arrested, and when they do he said he wants the legislature to pass an even stronger bill.

The representative also said that the fact that the Democrats flew maskless to Washington DC was in violation of the law.

“My reading of federal transportation law and mask mandates is that the mask rule applies to private charters regardless of whether you’re vaccinated. Humorously, a local ordinance in Washington, D.C. also prohibits a person from importing an alcoholic beverage into the District of Columbia without a permit,” he said.

And as far as their positive tests go, the representative wants to see the proof.

“I say prove it,” he said. “I think it’s an excuse to avoid coming back. They want a reason to do a 14-day quarantine; they don’t want to come back and do their jobs. If they really have it, prove it.”

While on what can be described a s public relations trip to Washington DC, three Texas Democrats have tested positive for COVID-19 after flying to the Capitol and taking maskless photos on the airplane, The Austin American Statesman reported.

They’re among nearly 60 lawmakers who fled the state Monday to break quorum in the House, part of an effort to block the passage of a GOP-led elections bill. Most members are staying in the same hotel.

One member found out about their positive test result late Friday evening, but they do not have symptoms, caucus officials said. All House lawmakers were alerted and received a rapid test following the member’s positive result.

Two additional members tested positive in a rapid test on Saturday morning. One has mild symptoms, caucus leadership said.

The three who tested positive on the rapid tests will receive a PCR coronavirus test, a more sensitive and accurate version of a COVID-19 test. The positive members will isolate for 10 days before taking a follow-up test, according to a memo obtained by the American-Statesman. 

“The House Democratic Caucus is following all CDC guidance and protocols,” House Democratic Caucus Chairman Rep. Chris Turner said. “This is a sober reminder that COVID is still with us, and though vaccinations offer tremendous protection, we still must take necessary precautions. We are in touch with public health experts in Texas to provide additional guidance. Our caucus will follow all recommendations from public health experts as we continue our work.”

But what is even more curious is that the three members are fully vaccinated.

These Democrats also met with Kamala Harris and we have yet to discover if she is going to quarantine.

“This is quite possibly the biggest disaster of a trip not seen since the S.S. Minnow. Perhaps all of these Texas Democrats ignoring the mask mandate on the plane to DC led to this. Look forward to seeing the coverage…,” Joe Concha said.

“Karma has a way of biting you in the ass. They went to Washington to catch COVID-19 now they should be denied transportation until they test negative twice,” Samuel Williams said.

“Three Texas state democrats that fled their legislative responsibilities on a private plane (unmasked) to the safety of The People’s Republic of DC, into the arms of their beloved leader @SpeakerPelosi, have tested positive for #Covid,” Jonathan T. Gilliam said.

“Put their pathetic asses in quarantine. Democrats once again showing that rules don’t apply to them and paying for it this time,” Matthew Betley said.
