Michael Andrew who is the 2016 champion in the 100 meter individual medley recently in an interview went on record saying that he will not be vaccinated for the Tokyo Olympics.

His reason for not doing so is because he’s concerned on how his body will react to the vaccine and doesn’t want to put anything in his body that could potentially effect his body in a negative manner.

Currently right now close to 90% of the U.S. Olympic team is already vaccinated.

The New York Post covered Andrew’s comments and released these details:

One of Team USA’s premier swimmers is heading to the Tokyo Olympics without being vaccinated.

Michael Andrew, the 2016 world champion in the 100-meter individual medley who recently flirted with the 200-meter world record last month, has not received the COVID-19 vaccine. During a USA Swimming media call on Thursday, Andrew, 22, conceded that he will not be vaccinated in the “distant future.”

“My reason behind it is, for one, it was kind of a last moment, I didn’t want to put anything in my body that I didn’t know how I would potentially react to,” Andrew said. “As an athlete on the elite level, everything you do is very calculated and understood. For me, in the training cycle, especially leading up to trials, I didn’t want to risk any days out. There were periods where, you take a vaccine, you have to deal with some days off.”

Andrew’s comments come in the wake of escalating concern over the COVID-19 Delta variant, which has triggered a state of emergency in Tokyo ahead of the fast-approaching Games. Nearly the entirety of the Olympics will be held under emergency guidelines, while fans will be barred from attending.

Of course the far-left  doesn’t like when American’s exercise their freedoms and had a lot to say about Michael Andrew’s refusal of the Covid-19 vaccine:

The far-left has no problems when it comes to biological males competing against females in the Olympics but they do have problems with unvaccinated athletes competing in the games.

CBS News got the scoop too:

Star American swimmer Michael Andrew says he is standing by his decision to not get the COVID-19 vaccine before the Tokyo Olympics.

Andrew, an Olympic gold medal favorite, said in an interview on the Fox Business show “Varney & Co.” on Tuesday that remaining unvaccinated is a “risk” he’s willing to take.

“Everything we take and put in our body is very calculated,” he said. “You know, with the period going into Olympic trials, I didn’t want to risk any time out of the pool.”

Andrew said he didn’t think it was “necessary” to get the shot as Tokyo Olympics neared. However, he says he still isn’t taking the virus “lightly.”
