OMG! This was a spectacular fireball. Did you also see this bright green meteor explode over Melbourne, Australia tonight?
According to Facebook comments, the space rock disintegrated for over 5 seconds in the night sky at around 10:40 p.m.
Look this first video of the bolide… Amazing!
Another video was captured by a CCTV camera in a parking lot in Korumburra, a city situated 120 kilometres south-east of Melbourne.
There seem to have been great visuals from greater Melbourne areas but reports suggest it was seen from regional Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia and Tasmania.
This actually means across all southeast Australia:

Why do fireballs glow in different colors?
The color of light that the meteors produce depends on their chemical composition. Different chemicals in the meteors produce different colors as they burn up while entering the Earth’s atmosphere.

Sometimes the sky is just on fire… And sometimes even on Valentine’s Day. Awesome!
