During the White House press briefing, one of Psaki’s most mind-boggling moments came when she said the Biden administration isn’t ruling out “moving people from their homes” in areas impacted by climate change.

At another point in the briefing, Psaki made another round of bizarre comments about gun violence in America and how the Biden administration plans to tackle the problem.

REPORTER: So, people watching who may be worried about a rise in crime, what does the president think is a deterrent to committing a crime if there is no catch bill in place?

PSAKI: Well, let me give you a sense to the degree I can because we are still finalizing the specifics. There has been one, increase in violent crime over the last 18 months. If you look back, it is moreover the last five years or so. So, there is an initial set of actions.

The president has announced to-date to address gun violence back in April, strengthening regulations on ghost guns and braces that make fairly more lethal, investing money in community violence intervention program, investments that he thinks cans be quite effective. He talked about for decades and I think you will hear him talk about tomorrow supporting funding for community policing through the budget request and helping state and local governments keep cop on the beat. So, yes, we believe a central driver of view lens is gun violence and the use of guns.

We are seeing that statistically in a lot of areas but we need to ensure that state and local governments keep cop on the beat and we are supporting community policing, and that is a key part of it, as well.

Last month, Psaki revealed that she will be on her way out in the near future.

During an interview with longtime Democratic operative David Axelrod on his CNN podcast, “The Axe Files,” Psaki said she plans to step down either later this year or early next year.

“I think it’s going to be time for somebody else to have this job, in a year from now or about a year from now,” Psaki said.

Here are a few of her other comments from the wild interview:

— On the Covid-era restrictions on attendance in the briefing room: “It’s our hope to get back that up to about 50 percent or so sometime in the next few weeks, now that so many of our press corps is getting vaccinated,” she said.

— On media fragmentation: “Our job is to get information out to the public,” Psaki said. “The media is a means of doing that. It’s not the only means of doing that.”

— On this White House’s tweeting strategy: “The big audience of Twitter for us is the media… You’re actually speaking to the media through Twitter. You’re not trying to go around them. Because a lot of reporters are on Twitter.”
