(John Vibes) This week, Pornhub.com issued a press release with traffic data from recent weeks, showing that visits to the website have increased in the Washington D.C. area since the government shutdown began. The data also revealed that there has been a nationwide increase in the number of people visiting Pornhub on weekdays during the shutdown.

According to the press release: “Average visit time during the week increased by 33 seconds (from 10 minutes 37 seconds to 11 minutes 10 seconds), further indicating that some people have a bit more time with on their hands. Visits from women were also up by 4.2% above average.
In Washington, D.C., results were similar with traffic after midnight up nearly 12% and early morning traffic down from 8am to 11am. Overall, D.C. traffic was up 6.32% above average the week of January 7th to 11th when compared to D.C.’s pre-shutdown averages. Female traffic in D.C. increased by 12.3% above average.”
The data was featured on Pornhub’s Insights page, where the site shows traffic data for significant times and places. The site has previously found that traffic plummets on election night and following the release of popular video games. Most notably, the site saw a 10% drop in traffic on the day after Fallout 4 was released. They also noted a spike in searches for western themes following the recent release of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2.
Pornography is one of the most popular things that nobody seems to talk about. Thankfully, the viewership data is available to give us an interesting look at both our culture and our psychology.
The graph below shows exactly what has been taking place in Washington D.C. during the shutdown:

The current government shutdown is the longest in US history and has left numerous agencies understaffed and worn thin.

Earlier this week, the TSA announced that a large number of employees were calling out sick, resulting in understaffed security checkpoints and longer lines for travelers across the country. TSA spokesman Michael Bilello said on Twitter that the number of unscheduled absences doubled to a rate of 7.6 percent during the shutdown.
This morning, TSA experienced a national rate of 7.6 percent unscheduled absences compared to a 3.2 percent rate one year ago, Monday, January 15, 2018. Most importantly, security standards remain uncompromised at our nation’s airports.

As The Mind Unleashed previously reported, things got even more interesting the same week as TSA agents at JFK airport in New York began playing uncensored rap music through the airport intercom.
It seems some people are trying to make the best of an otherwise unpleasant situation and the internet is amused.

Stillness in the Storm Editor: Why did we post this?
The preceding article reveals the corruption of government in, an albeit, rather shallow way. While the unaware might not be able to acknowledge deeper aspects of corruption, this data point added to other information can help crack open a closed mind.
