by Michael Wright,
In part 3 of The Neurogenesis Regimen, we will finish this article series with another three supplements, two foods and one exercise to help support brain, memory and nervous system health.
Supplements
In Chinese medicine, the reishi mushroom is known as “the mushroom of immortality.” Reishi mushroom is one of the most studied nutraceuticals in the industry and has extensive research behind it showing how beneficial it is to overall health, especially for cardiovascular and neurological support.
In one study, reishi mushroom was able to enhance neurogenesis in a mouse-model of Alzheimer’s disease. Another study showed triterpinoids in reishi induced nerve growth factor-like and brain-derived neurotrophic factor-like activities.
As I discussed in article one of this series, the company I like the best for mushroom supplements is Host Defense.

As I discussed in a recent article, ORMUS/monatomic gold has been shown to be wonderful for supporting brain health. The specific one I like is from Harmonic Innerprizes, as this one has been studied at The Alpha Learning Institute in Lugano, Switzerland and was shown to support “brain balance and learning ability by stimulating electro-chemical reactions in the brain.”
While it hasn’t been studied specifically for neurogenesis-specific properties, it is still a beneficial product for brain health.
The Harmonic Innerprizes brand also came from a meteorite impact that hit near Mount Shasta over 11,000 years ago.

The third supplement is that of the ginkgo biloba leaf. Ginkgo has long been used to support healthy circulation, heart health, eye health and brain health, and has also been shown to support hippocampal neurogenesis in the adult aging brain. A special extract of Ginkgo, known as EGb761®, has been studied and shown to support different aspects of neuroplasticity, including neurogenesis, neuritogenesis, long-term potentiation and spine density.
One product I like that contains ginkgo is also from Host Defense mushrooms. It contains ginkgo, bacopa and gotu kola herbs, as well as Lion’s mane, reishi and cordyceps mushrooms. In other words, this product from Host Defense contains 5 different supplements discussed in this article series.

Foods
Resveratrol is a compound found most abundantly in red grapes and dark berries that has received much attention over the years, most notably for longevity support. Resveratrol has been shown to help promote adult hippocampal neurogenesis and neuroprotection.
Other foods that contain resveratrol include pistachios, peanuts, cranberries and dark chocolate, although in smaller amounts.
Resveratrol can be bought as a supplement as well and I like the Pterostilbene form of resveratrol. Pterostilbene is very similar to resveratrol, though it is stronger and has actually shown to enhance resveratrol’s effects when combined. Pterostilbene’s main function is related to positively impacting gene expression.

As noted above, dark chocolate contains resveratrol, though it also contains many other compounds beneficial to human health. Cacao hasn’t been exclusively studied for neurogenesis, it has been studied as a mood stimulator and as a potential treatment for cognitive impairment in aged rats.

Exercise
The last exercise we will discuss for neurogenesis is exercise itself. Aerobic exercise has been shown to increase the number of new neurons in the hippocampus. Another study showed how running helped increase cell proliferation and neurogenesis in adult mice.
To be clear, it should be well understood by most people that any form of exercise is beneficial to health. It doesn’t necessarily matter what one does for exercise, just simply partake in some form of it. Increased circulation and blood-flow is tremendously beneficial to not just brain health, but to health of the entire body.
Are there others you know who might benefit from this information? Do you believe these substances can help optimize your brain and mind? Thank you for reading part 3 and be sure to check out part 1 and part 2 of this article series for more information on brain health, memory and neurogenesis.

Stillness in the Storm Editor: Why did we post this?
The preceding article dispels the mainstream medical myth that aging and degradation of health is an absolute certainty. It successfully pokes a conceptual hole in the fallacious stranglehold the powers that be have on human health—a shackle easily removed by the wearer should they choose to do so. With this information properly understood, an individual can liberate their mind so as to make contact with greater realities of health and techniques of high-quality living. The basic human need of health, once addressed, liberates consciousness energy for use in altruistic works and efforts to dethrone the dishonorable and unlawful powers that be.
