But New York State Acting Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett during a governor’s press conference on Wednesday openly admitted exaggerating the pandemic among children to motivate parents into “seeking the protection of vaccination.”
“The numbers that we gave on pediatric admissions weren’t intended to make it seem children were having a – you know, having an epidemic of infection,” Dr. Bassett said. “These were small numbers that we reported in our health alert. That was based on 50 hospitalizations. And I’ve now given you some larger numbers, but they’re still small numbers.”
“It really is to motivate pediatricians and families to seek the protection of vaccination,” she admitted.
There you have it. Here is the acting public health commissioner admitting that one of the worst-managed states for Covid in the United States is intentionally misrepresenting the threat the virus poses to children in order to “motivate pediatricians and families” to get vaccinated.
On December 24, the New York State Department of Health issued an alarming health advisory to state residents.
“The New York State Department of Health today announced the issuance of a Health Advisory to healthcare providers warning of an upward trend in pediatric hospitalizations associated with COVID-19,” the alert said. “The recent increases are concentrated in New York City and the surrounding metropolitan area where the highly contagious Omicron variant was first detected in the state and is spreading rapidly.”
“The risks of COVID-19 for children are real,” said Acting State Health Commissioner Dr. Mary T. Bassett. “We are alerting New Yorkers to this recent striking increase in pediatric COVID-19 admissions so that pediatricians, parents and guardians can take urgent action to protect our youngest New Yorkers. We must use all available safe and effective infection control, prevention and mitigation strategies. Protect your children who are five years and older by getting them fully vaccinated and protect children under five by making sure all of those around them have protection through vaccination, boosters, mask-wearing, avoiding crowds and testing.”
“In New York City, the Department identified four-fold increases in COVID-19 hospital admissions for children 18 and under beginning the week of Dec. 5 through the current week, based on data reported to the Department through the Health Electronic Response Data System (HERDS),” the report continued. “For the most recent week of reporting (Dec. 19, 2021) statewide, no 5 – 11-year-old who was admitted to the hospital due to COVID-19 was fully vaccinated. Over that same time, only one-fourth of 12 – 17-year-olds who were admitted to the hospital were fully vaccinated.”
“These startling trends underscore the critical importance of protecting our children from COVID-19,” the advisory continued. “The Department urges parents and guardians of all children five years and older to get their kids fully vaccinated as soon as possible. The Department also reminds families that the best protection for those under five is to ensure all those around them are fully protected through vaccination, boosters, proper mask-wearing, crowd avoidance and testing.”
Once again, this is fraud. The “vaccines” do not stop the spread of Covid-19. This is scientifically proven.
“Children ages five to 15 may receive the Pfizer-BioNTechCOVID-19 vaccine, which is available under Emergency Use Authorization for this age group; this vaccine is fully approved for those age 16 and older,” Dr. Bassett claimed. “The other COVID-19 vaccines are not authorized or approved for those under 16. Parents and guardians are encouraged to make sure their child is up to date on all recommended and required vaccinations, including the flu vaccine.”
The survival rate of healthy children is 99.99995% (the infection survival rate overall is at least 99.995%). Covid deaths are one percent of annual deaths for those under age 18. Children are not at significant statistical risk from Covid-19.
Indeed, the CDC shows that around twice as many children died from pneumonia alone than Covid alone the last two years. Yet, there is not a lot of pneumonia hysteria out there and that has not been cited as a basis for shutting down society or public schools.
Meanwhile, the New York Times avers that the vaccines are safe and effective for children who are “fully vaccinated,” while failing to note that there is a two-week window where side effects reporting does not apply to the vaccines. Furthermore, the definitions of “fully vaccinated” appear to change with the wind. Now, it means having the original vaccination regime plus boosters; Israel is already on its fourth shot in under a year.
It is time for America to return to normal. Not the “new normal.” But normal. Unfortunately, Democrats are doing everything in their power to prevent it from returning that way. That includes lying to perpetuate the public perception of “crisis.”
