(Carmine Sabia) Being woke is tough business and when you are bending over backwards to prove you are not a racist it could be simple to get confused.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi mad such a mistake on Friday when she wanted to wish a happy birthday to one of the greatest baseball players who ever lived, Willie Mays.
Just one issue. Rather than share a photo of Mays she shared a picture of another black, legendary Major League Baseball player, Willie McCovey.

“Happy 90th Birthday to an all-American icon, Willie Mays,” the tweet said. “A trailblazing, record-breaking baseball player, civil rights leader, and champion for youth sports and well-being, Willie Mays is a civic legend and national treasure. #SayHey90.”

McCovey and Mays overlapped for a number of years on the team, but McCovey passed away at the age of 80 back in October 2018, months after the wedding.
Someone on Pelosi’s tweet must’ve noticed the mistake, because the original tweet was deleted and replaced with a new tweet later, with the same exact text, but a new picture.
The Speaker was quick to blame one of her staffers for the mistake.
“A staffer inadvertently selected the wrong photo for the tweet,” her office said in a statement to KCBS Radio read.
“The photo we wanted to use was of the Speaker and Willie Mays at Willie McCovey’s August 2018 wedding. The quickly deleted photo was the wrong photo from the right wedding. We apologize for the error,” it said.
“Out of Touch But at least you got the Willie part right, @SpeakerPelosi?” one person tweeted.

“Willie Go Round in Circles @SpeakerPelosi congratulates Willie Mays on his 90th birthday but tweets a picture of deceased Willie McCovey. Deletes, then tweets the correct Willie, blames staffer. Willie Covfefe?” another said.

it is not the first embarrassing thing Pelosi has done recently involving a black man. After former police officer Derek Chauvin was convicted of murder in the George Floyd case the Speaker thanked Floyd for giving his life.
“And thank God, the jury validated what we saw, what we saw,” Pelosi said in front of the U.S. Capitol Building as she delivered remarks with the Congressional Black Caucus.
“So, again, thank you George Floyd for sacrificing your life for justice. For being there to call out to your mom. How heartbreaking was that? To call out to your mom, ‘I can’t breathe,’” she added.
“But because of you – and because of thousands, millions of people around the world who came out for justice – your name will always be synonymous with justice,” she abhorrently added.
Her statement was quickly slammed on social media.
Chauvin, who was charged with second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter has been found guilty on all charges.
Politicians, mainly on the Democrat side of the aisle, have seized the Floyd case and used it as a soapbox to call for more police reform.
Then there was California Rep. Maxine Waters, who caused controversy when she called for protesters to be “more confrontational” if Chauvin was not found guilty of murder.
After the prosecution and defense gave their closing arguments in the case on the death of George Floyd, the judge in the case said that Waters’ comments made this weekend could be cause for an appeal.
