The Federal Aviation Authority is investigating a flight the governor took to Florida in March to visit her ailing dad, WDIV-TV reported.
After months of questions surrounding the governor’s trip, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services confirmed Monday (May 17) that she didn’t follow its guidelines when she traveled to see her father on March 12.
Whitmer flew from Lansing to west Palm Beach in a private jet to spend the weekend with her father, She returned to Lansing on March 15.
On Feb. 22, MDHHS had issued guidance telling Michiganders to get a PCR viral test 1-3 days before traveling and 3-5 days upon returning home. Residents were also told to self-quarantine for seven days after traveling.
Local 4 asked the governor’s office why Whitmer didn’t follow health department guidance, and the response was that it wasn’t an executive order and she followed all orders.
On Tuesday morning, the Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that it is investigating the case.
“We confirmed that Air Eagle does not have a Part 135 certificate,” a spokesperson for the agency said. “It’s premature to conclude that a violation of federal aviation regulations occurred. The FAA is looking into the matter.”
Whitmer has had some of the most draconian restrictions placed on her state and for some reason did not follow her own health department’s guidance because it was not an order.
“The cost to charter the flight was paid for by the Michigan Transition 2019,” a nonprofit corporation controlled by the governor, Whitmer chief of staff JoAnne Huls said.
She said the governor’s officials “made a decision to use a chartered flight for this trip” due to ongoing security concerns.
But what about the concern for the environment that Democrats say they have? A charter flight is much more damaging to the environment than a commercial flight.
“This new bombshell that Whitmer’s plane was not authorized to fly is concerning, yet not surprising,” Michigan Republican Party spokesman Ted Goodman said. “For Whitmer, it’s always been, rules for thee, but not for me.”
Not only for Gov. Whitmer but for her staff too. It was April when it was discovered that a member of her staff was caught vacationing as the rest of the state was still abiding by the rules.

A top aide of Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer took a spring break trip to Florida with family. Only days earlier, the Democratic governor of Michigan warned her constituents about travel because of concerns of spreading COVID-19.
Tricia Foster, Whitmer’s chief operating officer, posted photos on Facebook of her family vacationing in Siesta Key, a popular beach tourist destination on the Gulf of Mexico about an hour south of Tampa.
Photos on Foster’s Facebook page obtained by Breitbart show her teenage daughters and friends enjoying a spring break vacation in the resort town that has far fewer coronavirus restrictions than Michigan’s COVID-19 constraints, which many deem to be excessive and draconian. Foster, her daughters, and their friends are seen maskless and are not practicing social distancing in the social media posts.
The insane part of the entire thing is that the Whitmer administration has not denied the veracity of the report or the photos but still found a way to dismiss it by using the old “white nationalist” trope, even though Foster is white, to dismiss the report by Breitbart.
“This is a partisan attack from a garbage white nationalist website,” Bobby Leddy, a spokesman for the Whitmer administration, said in a statement. “Trish Foster is fully recovered from COVID and fully vaccinated.”
