During an episode on his brand new podcast, Gaetz accused former House Speaker Paul Ryan of orchestrating Dobbs’ ouster from the network.
Gaetz kicked things off by talking about how he thinks Fox News “isn’t what it used to be” and speculated that the reason why is because of Paul.
“I appreciate the platform Fox News gave me for years. It allowed me to get key information to the country. I have many friends still at Fox News, and I enjoy our discussions, whether they’re on-air or off-air,” he said.
“That said, Fox News isn’t what it used to be, and it probably has something to do with their corporate board member, Paul Ryan,” he added.
Ryan joined Fox News’ parent company, Fox Corporation, two years ago to serve on its board of directors.
The move sparked a massive outcry from conservatives, particularly those who support Donald Trump because they blamed Ryan for stalling much of Trump’s agenda during his first two years in office.
“One of my favorite shows on the Fox platform was ‘Lou Dobbs Tonight.’ Sweet, sweet Lou, like America’s angry uncle, politically incorrect sometimes, red in the face and usually right about stuff,” Gaetz continued.
Gaetz then started to piece together his theory by playing a montage of Dobbs relentlessly bashing Ryan as a “RINO.”
“Now that Paul Ryan has concentrated power at Fox News, Lou Dobbs is no longer on air. He can’t guide the populist right away from the invade everywhere, invite everyone version of Republicanism that sells out to K Street and abandons Main Street,” Gaetz said.
“Paul Ryan never used his considerable power as the speaker for Trump’s wall or other key immigration reforms, but he was able to use his power at Fox News to cancel the great Lou Dobbs,” Gaetz suggested.
“By the way, that goes some part of the way to explaining why he threw away the midterm election in 2018 and eliminated the control of the Republican Party from the house,” he added.

Lou Dobbs Tonight was canceled earlier this year after Smartmatic announced it was filing a lawsuit against Fox and several hosts including Dobbs.
The network responded by saying, “FOX News Media is committed to providing the full context of every story with in-depth reporting and clear opinion. We are proud of our 2020 election coverage and will vigorously defend against this meritless lawsuit in court.”
After Fox announced that Dobbs’ show was canceled, the host took to Twitter.
“Thanks for your kind words Mr. President. God bless you and all the American patriots who make this country great,” he wrote.

The announcement came as many have accused Fox News of moving to the Left.
Last week, Fox News parted ways with legal contributor Judge Andrew Napolitano after a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a production assistant.
