Manly P Hall discusses Albert Pike and the nature of Symbols in the universe. He also discusses how society and culture conditions us to externalize the meanings of symbols.
We often think of symbols as always having an external meaning. But the meaning a symbol has is what you give it. And there is an esoteric usage of symbols wherein they are used to express parts of the self through what is generated. In other words, the meanings we generate as a result of making contact with reality, even if wrong, tell us about ourselves.
In this way, by becoming aware of our internal meanings and intuitive data stream, we know ourselves better, which is essential to gaining self-mastery and freedom from enslavement.

Interesting data. Thankfully even if he was hitler himself, the truth of his words hold weight. It is a logical fallacy to judge the voracity of a concept based on the character judgements you hold against the presenter.

We must also remember that his commentary is couched in a specific language and inheritance, that of Freemasonry. More poetry than data, I think.
