Some may argue that this is just evidence of more people wanting hand outs. But I think there is a deeper shift in consciousness going on. It’s not that people should get handouts, it’s that our world should be structured so that basic living is free for all.
No one should have to ‘earn a living’ on Earth. If you read that and think it’s just Idealism then you have a lot of research to do.
Our world is artificially suppressed on so many levels it’s staggering. When humanity finally realizes the full breadth of what our would-be masters need to do to maintain their illusion of control, we will have prosperity for all and no one will argue that such a basic need as housing and food should not be free for everyone.
In a move to combat growing pay inequality, Swiss citizens will vote on whether to give every adult in Switzerland a basic income.
BERNE — Switzerland will hold a vote on whether to introduce a basic income for all adults, in a further sign of growing public activism over pay inequality since the financial crisis.
A grassroots committee is calling for all adults in Switzerland to receive an unconditional income of 2,500 Swiss francs — about $2,800 — per month from the state, with the aim of providing a financial safety net for the population.
Organizers submitted more than the 100,000 signatures needed to call a referendum on Friday and tipped a truckload of 8 million five-cent coins outside the parliament building in Bern, one for each person living in Switzerland.
Under Swiss law, citizens can organize popular initiatives that allow the channeling of public anger into direct political action. The country usually holds several referenda a year.

8 million five-cent coins, representing every person living in Switzerland, were dumped from a truck in Bern by the committee that pushed for a vote on giving all adults a basic income.
In March, Swiss voters backed some of the world’s strictest controls on executive pay, forcing public companies to give shareholders a binding vote on compensation.

A separate proposal to limit monthly executive pay to no more than what the company’s lowest-paid staff earn in a year, the so-called 1:12 initiative, faces a popular vote on Nov. 24.
The initiative’s organizing committee said the basic income could partly be financed through money from social insurance systems in Switzerland.
The timing of the vote has yet to be announced, pending official guidance from the government.

This is the way forward. Access to the market is essential for life in modern society and should be provided in the same way and for the same reasons as access to clean drinking water.
Finally the world is heading in the correct direction. We are all one Being thus we should take care of each other as one. All should have shelter, food, clean water. People should be free to pursue the life they want to live without fear…fear of starvation or humiliation…In fact Love should take the place of fear, everywhere! If all the technical resources were put to use in supporting human life, what a wonderful planet this would be…one worthy of inclusion into the Galactic Federation.
I'm assuming you're one of those willing to devote their lives to making sure the 'technical resources' continue to be discovered, researched, and function, for the benefit of others who are free to pursue the life they want, regardless of what that may be?
i do not agree with it. people need a right for drinking water, food, education, healthcare and housing. access to free money will not bring these rights closer, but we will be further from them. money is a tool of exchange, and a subject of manipulation. when using money not as a tool of exchange we will devaluate it, and we will be left with useless money while all our basic rights will be monetized. Basic income will make our grandchildren slaves and those who deal with huge amounts of money even richer. Please do not sign it.
well this is just an idea atm with out specific details for implementation. However, if not done properly, it will certainly create the effects your describing.
BUT – those effects will only occur if we the people STOP educating ourselves, and CONTINUE to give up our personal responsibility to others. NO ONE can do what only YOU can do for yourself. In relation to monetary policy. no one can represent you and your interests; this is why so many societies and governing systems have failed in modern times. So the task is for each individual to discover how they are contributing to the present paradigm (and we all are even if we are not aware of it) and change ourselves.
if each of us awoken to this basic principle of self responsibility and harmonized with natural law principles, the world at large would change over night, and would never be susceptible to tyranny again as long as the aforementioned was maintained in each generation and in each individual. The weakest link concept encapsulates this idea perfectly.
What motivation would exist for anyone to work if no one needed to work? People exchange their time and labor for goods and services. Money is simply a medium of exchange. Those who cannot work must rely on charity. This is how the world works. Money does not grow on trees. I suppose $2800/mo. will not stop people from working to earn even more, so maybe it will be okay. Time will tell.
"What motivation would exist for anyone to work if no one needed to work?"
That's an easy one: When enough people become more focused on what they can do for each other, instead of what they can get from each other.
It's a simple reversal of the unfortunate mindset in use now: Those trained to be "takers" cannot see any personal benefit in giving. Therefore cannot consider it possible that some might find pleasure and fulfillment in benefiting each other, and their collective greater good.
I agree with you in one sense: The maturity necessary to function in a culture based on true equality, is somewhat uncommon. Yet easily changed when equality becomes the norm. The few, influence the many. We can see that has always been the case. Once the few, influence the many, for the benefit of the all, everything takes care of itself.
^^ Great response! we all have a battered and bruised imagination and core which is surrounded by years of negative knowledge and growth. Until we address the biggest contributing factor to our collective mis haps on earth (ourselves) the giving away of money will not solve the much if any problems at all.
Something tells me the cost of living is about to increase $2,800 a month in Switzerland.
