(Jonathan Davis) Investigative journalist Julie Kelly said during an interview this week she believes that the “insurrection” narrative opponents of former President Donald Trump have used to describe the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol Building was pre-ordained, as evidenced by the fact that several critics were using the term the day of the incident.

In an interview with conservative author, filmmaker, and top podcaster Dinesh D’Souza this week, Kelly said the term was being bandied about by several Democrats and even some Republicans even before the dust had settled at the Capital.
“I went back and looked — the term ‘insurrection’ actually started that afternoon in a series of tweets by Democrat lawmakers who were in hiding from these ‘insurrectionists,’” Kelly said. “So that was the term that was seeded early. I suspect it was not a coincidence.”
“It’s almost like it was preconceived,” Kelly said, adding that thus far, more than 650 Americans have been arrested for allegedly taking part in the assault, with more being rounded up every week, though thus far, “no one has been charged with insurrection, no one has been charged with sedition, no one’s been charged with seditious conspiracy.”
Kelly and D’Souza also questioned why more Republicans were not pushing back on the ‘insurrection’ narrative, adding that even conservative stalwarts like Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), the ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, has not been vocal over what the Justice Department is doing arresting hundreds of Americans on what are mostly misdemeanor charges and jailing some of them for months at a time.
“Early on, most of the Republicans bought into this insurrection, they backed away from it, they’re afraid of being labeled part of the ‘sedition caucus,’” Kelly said, adding that it appeared that even Trump himself was reluctant to push back on the narrative.
Later, the host and his guest discussed recently released video by the government showing protesters not acting in a threatening manner towards police and not being destructive or threatening once they were inside the Capitol, which runs afoul of narratives told by many media outlets and Democrats that the entire mob was violent and dangerous.
In another segment, D’Souza and Kelly discussed the shooting death of one protester, unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, who was killed by Lt. Michael Byrd as she attempted to climb through the broken window of a door that lead into an anteroom outside the House chamber.
“The idea that one 100-pound woman could pose a lethal danger to all the elected officials there including Mike Byrd — isn’t this a patent absurdity?” D’Souza asked.
Kelly agreed, saying she did not think there “was any reason to shoot her at all,” adding that reports earlier this summer noted that Byrd left his loaded service weapon in a bathroom at the Capitol Building.
Later still, Kelly questioned much of the FBI’s behavior since the riot, noting reports that the bureau had informants at the Capitol that day.
