Do you think how you eat defines your personality? According to Juliet A. Boghossian, it does. She conducted an experiment in which she discovered personality types vary according to how people behave at mealtimes. Therefore, whether you carefully select what you eat, eat in a hurry, mix your foods up …. in fact, whatever your style is, it says something about your personality.
How you eat defines your personality
The experiment was conducted by the company Food-ology. This California business studied how food-related habits are linked to personality traits and behavioral trends. In fact, the experiment showed that there are, indeed, certain personality patterns linked to specific eating habits.
The study found up to ten different personality types. Juliet A. Boghossian, an expert in food-related behaviors, led the study.
The slow eaters
According to the experiment, people who eat in an unhurried fashion, savoring and chewing their foods well, are controlling and confident people. Furthermore, they know how to enjoy life.
In addition, this calm way of behaving at mealtimes has an effect on the rest of their lives in respect of areas like control or personal safety.
The quick eaters
People who gobble up their food without chewing it properly are used to doing many things at once.
They’re nervous and rather impulsive people. They’re also healthily competitive and think on their feet.
In relationships, these people often put the interests of others before their own. On the other hand, they need their own space.
The organizers
People who organize their foods according to color, size, or origin seek order and cleanliness. They also want a quiet life. At work, they’re extremely organized. However, they’re not very decisive in the face of unexpected and stressful situations.
The adventurous
Food adventurers are those who like to try new dishes and ingredients. They tend to be extroverts who like taking risks. They never get bored and are usually liked by everyone.
However, they don’t like to be alone. They need to always have others around them.
Introverts
The experiment suggests that the most introverted people are those who always eat the same thing and don’t mix many foods or ingredients. They’re also analytical and meticulous.
The mixers
People who enjoy mixing their foods and ingredients are strong and friendly. They also tend to be responsible.
However, at work, they lack practicality when it comes to prioritizing tasks.
The careless
These people are the ones who chew and sip with their mouths open and make a lot of noise when they eat or drink. They don’t care much about what others think of them.
They’re frank and direct which doesn’t always please others. Furthermore, their careless manner is reflected in other areas of their lives as well as eating.
The planners
These people cut up their food thoroughly before they start to eat.
They live more in the future than in the present. In fact, they have trouble in living in the here and now and enjoying it.
The fussy
They want to know everything about what they’re going to eat. They’re usually extremely curious people. However, despite their curiosity, they tend to stay in their comfort zone and don’t usually take risks.
Those who always eat the same thing
People who tend to eat the same thing are usually analytical, meticulous, and methodical people. In fact, in some cases, they might exhibit the kind of behavior found in conditions of mental rigidity.
Conclusion
In reality, your personality is reflected in most of the things you do on a daily basis. Naturally, this includes eating. However, logically, not all people with the same personality type would eat in the same way.
Nevertheless, as the study suggests, there could be certain personality traits that predispose to specific behaviors, including eating.
Have you ever thought about the way you eat? More importantly, have you ever wondered if it says anything about the way you are?
