Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the mysterious circumstances surrounding Epstein’s death, extreme measures are being taken to ensure Maxwell’s safety.
Maxwell’s lawyers have recently requested to have her moved to the general population of the prison, insisting that she does not want any special treatment.
In their request to the judge, the attorneys wrote that Maxwell is “subjected to suicide watch protocols,” which include “being woken up every few hours during the night and being forced to wear special clothing.”
According to the filing, Maxwell is under 24-hour surveillance and there are guards that appear to be outsourced, possibly from a federal agency, that keep a constant watch over her and take notes on her every action.
“These prison guards constantly observe Ms. Maxwell and take notes on her every activity, including her phone conversations with defense counsel. Her cell is searched multiple times a day and she has been forced to undergo numerous body scans,” the filing stated, according to CNBC.
Maxwell says that she has never been suicidal or diagnosed with showing risk factors for suicide, but neither did Epstein prior to his arrest.
The filing stated the obvious, saying that “It has become apparent that the [Bureau of Prison’s] treatment of Ms. Maxwell is a reaction to the circumstances surrounding the pretrial detention and death of Mr. Epstein.”

As The Mind Unleashed previously reported, Maxwell is being kept on her own floor, entirely separated from the other inmates.
Most inmates get two hours of recreational time, while Maxwell gets three, and all of the other inmates need to be cleared out of the recreational area when it is her turn.
The other inmates can reportedly see down to her floor from their recreational area, so while they have no contact with her, they can usually tell what she’s up to.
The entire floor that Maxwell is staying on was reportedly closed for a very long time and was only re-opened to accommodate the high profile prisoner.
Cameron Lindsay, a prison consultant, and former MDC warden, said that Maxwell is not only at risk because of her high profile friends, but also because sexual predators are targets for vigilante justice while behind bars.
“When you get someone so incredibly high profile as Epstein or Ghislaine Maxwell, who has been involved with children being harmed, that automatically makes them a target in the culture of jails and prisons,” Lindsay said.
There are many good reasons to keep Maxwell away from the general population, so this is an unexpected move from her defense team.
At this point, it is suspected that the evidence recovered in the raid on Maxwell’s home will implicate many powerful figures.
Hopefully, the sensitive evidence that implicates high profile figures is already stashed away somewhere, so all of the guilty parties can see justice regardless of what happens with Maxwell’s case.
