Elon Musk Posts Poll Asking About Importance of “Free Speech” On Twitter, Leaving Many Wondering If He’s Getting Ready To Create An Alternative: “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully”

(Patty McMurray) Yesterday, the richest man in the world posted a poll in a tweet asking Twitter users if they believe the “Twitter algorithm should be open source?” In other words, should Twitter make public how they prioritize news?

he final results of the Twitter poll showed 82.7% of the 1.17 million respondents believe that Twitter should make their algorithm public.

The poll has not yet ended, but with only 6 hours remaining, over 70% believe free speech is NOT being adhered to on Twitter.

Under the poll, Musk wrote: “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully,” leaving Twitter users to speculate that Musk is thinking about launching an alternative to Twitter. He certainly has access to the funds he would need to compete with the highly censored platform, and Musk once said, “I don’t create companies for the sake of creating companies, but to get things done.”

Is Musk looking to create an alternative to Twitter, or perhaps, as some people on Twitter are suggesting, he should just buy Twitter.

Conservative Republican candidate for Florida’s 24th district Laverne Spicer wrote: There is no such thing as free speech on Silicon Valley social media.

Independent journalist Andy Ngo wrote: Where Twitter censors views (or even factual statements) in contravene of the US First Amendment, it goes in favor of a partisan or leftist worldview. Democrat politicians know this, which is why they call in their connections to get content & people banned that hurts their side.

Conservative activist Ian Miles Cheong wrote:

We need an answer for this. A proper, viable free speech platform enjoyed by the masses.

And Sagar’s response was perfect: Waiting for Twitter to suspend your account to prove your point

A free speech alternative to Twitter would crush them.
