According to the Washington Examiner, Trump stressed that point as he told Fox News host Sean Hannity in his first television interview since leaving the White House that he’ll be heavily involved in picking and backing a number of likely winners for the upcoming 2022 midterm elections.

“Look, almost everybody I endorse wins,” the former president said during the Monday night interview.

He went on to remind Hannity and his viewers that during the 2020 election, as a number of Republican candidates up for re-election were scared of being beaten, Trump’s endorsement, in most cases, easily secured clear victories for those candidates, one of which was Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

“I tell you that at least eight senators would have lost their race,” Trump said. “I could name them, but I don’t want to embarrass them, but that includes Mitch, who is heading south. He called me up. He said, ‘I need your help.’ And I’m very popular in Kentucky. I love Kentucky. And they love me. And I helped him, and he won by the most he’s ever won by.

The 2022 midterms will likely be some of the most heated, competitive political battles in recent history, as Republicans are well-positioned to take back the House and possibly the Senate. Democrats have such a slim majority in the lower chamber and an even split in the Senate, and during the midterms of a new president’s first term, the opposing party typically comes out with huge wins.

That could be especially true next year with Trump’s kingmaker abilities, as he’s easily the most beloved, powerful, and influential person in the Republican party. His loyal base of tens of millions of followers listen for his direction and if he tells them to vote for a particular candidate, you can bet that they’ll follow through.

Trump’s first major endorsement victory came when Rep. Julia Letlow announced that she would run to secure the open seat of her husband, Rep. Luke Letlow, who unfortunately passed away shortly after winning his Louisiana seat. Rep. Julia Letlow secured an easy victory, which many believe was influenced by Trump’s glowing endorsement of her at the time.

So far, Trump has issued formal endorsements for heavy-hitters like Rep. Mo Brooks of Alabama, Sen. Marco Rubio,  and Arkansas gubernatorial candidate and former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Only time will tell just how influential Trump will be in the upcoming election, but all signs point to the likely outcome that his political street cred will lead the party to a roaring victory overall.
