Dear Justin
I am a professional astrologer and Saturn in astrological cosmology is NOT inherently “bad”. On the contrary, someone with not enough Saturnian energy in their personal chart may have many difficulties in their life, e.g. not enough structure, challenges with authorities and taking care of the practical matters in their lives Having seen your last amazing talk in Contact in The Desert about what we could learn from ET cultures, this talk was all about what Saturn represents in our world: form, structure and laws that create the basis for a functioning, compassionate society. In relationship astrology (Synastry and Composites) Saturn is the “glue” that binds two people together, showing the ability to be loyal and responsible towards each other and stick it through the difficult times.
So, with many of these investigators into symbology, their knowledge is incomplete and sometimes downright false, just to write a sensationalistic piece. Like the Swastika, sign of good luck in Hinduism and Buddhism, is not inherently “bad” (as no symbol can be, it is what we project onto it – see Quantum Mechanics and Buddhist Philosophy of emptiness) that was then taken by the Nazi and turned into something else. And this cannot just be explained by Emoto. This is simplistic thinking like “The Secret” – that we can control everything, mind over matter, through positive thinking.
My edited version I posted on Google:
I am a professional astrologer and Saturn in astrological cosmology is NOT inherently “bad”. On the contrary, someone with not enough Saturnian energy in their personal chart may have many difficulties in their life, e.g. not enough structure, challenges with authorities and taking care of the practical matters in their lives. If you e.g. watch Justin Deschamp´s amazing talk Blueprint for a Better World in Contact in The Desert, this talk was all about what Saturn represents in our world: form, structure and the laws that create the basis for a functioning, compassionate society. Without Saturn, there would be chaos, and even we need laws for our communities to work in day-to-day life. In relationship astrology (Synastry and Composites) Saturn is the “glue” that binds two people together, showing the ability to be loyal and responsible towards each other and stick it through the difficult times.
So, with many of these investigators into symbology, their knowledge is incomplete and sometimes downright false, even though the mythology of Saturn explained here is correct. However, the symbolism does not work in this way in current Western Astrology, and it remains what we make of it. Like the Swastika, sign of good luck in Hinduism and Buddhism, is not inherently “bad” (as no symbol can be, it is what we project onto it – see Quantum Mechanics and Buddhist Philosophy of emptiness). The Swastika was then taken by the Nazis and turned into something else. So, having said all this, Saturn as a planet with its rings does look kind of attractive, maybe even cute to some, or somehow benign and stable (“giving satbility”: its main function in astrology). So if people like Saturn, they are obviously projecting sth good onto it. And here we come back to Emoto´s findings: the good feelings they have with Saturn is what they experience with this symbol. Its is in the end, what you personally make of it yourself.
