CNN Fact Checks Biden’ Claim That $450K Payment to Illegals Separated at Border Is “Garbage”: Result is Astounding

Case in point, last Thursday the Wall Street Journal broke the story that the Biden administration was considering the allocation of more than $1 billion to compensate illegal immigrants separated from their families during the Trump administration, some receiving as much as $450,000 per person.

The payouts would be in the form of a settlement for lawsuits accusing the federal government of inflicting distress on parents and their children who illegally crossed the US border during Trump’s zero tolerance border policy.

Upon Biden’s return from his snooze through the climate summit in Europe, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy inquired Wendesday as to the validity of the huge payouts.

“Mr. President, as you were leaving for your overseas trip, there were reports that were surfacing that your administration is planning to pay illegal immigrants who were separated from their families at the border up to $450,000 each, possibly $1 million per family. Do you think that that might incentivize more people to come over illegally?” Doocy asked.

Biden responded, “If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah. But it’s not true.”

Doocy clarified, “So this is a garbage report?”

Biden confirmed, “Yeah.”

So, according to Joe Biden, the payout report is “garbage” and he went on to say “That is not going to happen.”

Well, apparently it is happening as Biden’s cronies raced to cover Biden’s butt.

The first was ACLU Executive Director Anthony D. Romero, telling Fox News that payouts are, in fact, on the table.

“President Biden may not have been fully briefed about the actions of his very own Justice Department as it carefully deliberated and considered the crimes committed against thousands of families separated from their children as an intentional governmental policy,” Romero said.

Romero went on to remind Biden that it was “a core campaign promise to do justice for the thousands of separated families.”

“We respectfully remind President Biden that he called these actions ‘criminal’ in a debate with then-President Trump and campaigned on remedying and rectifying the lawlessness of the Trump administration,” Romero said. “We call on President Biden to right the wrongs of this national tragedy.”

Now the stage is set to make it “ok” for Biden to agree to a payout which White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre confirms Thursday.

“If it saves taxpayer dollars and puts the disastrous history of the previous administration’s use of zero tolerance and family separation behind us, the president is perfectly comfortable with the Department of Justice settling with individuals and families who are currently in litigation with the U.S. government,” Jean-Pierre said.

Enter, CNN to run a “fact check.” They don’t even operate of pretense of impartiality as the “fact checker,” Daniel Dale, starts off by qualifying his role.

“This is one of these cases where the President is quite imprecise and leaves it to his staff and us to be the precise ones,” Dale said.

Dale determined that “The Wall Street Journal was correct, not reporting garbage when it reported that the Biden administration is in discussions to settle lawsuits brought on behalf of families affected by the family separation policy, and The Wall Street Journal was correct in reporting that the settlement discussions include talks of possible financial compensation.”

But… as for Biden’s “garbage comment, “Jean-Pierre said he was referring specifically to that $450,000 amount The Wall Street Journal cited,” Dale said.

“Now, as a fact-checker, I’m very skeptical of these day after explanations, clarifications that the White House and other politicians offer,” Dale continued. “In this case I think it’s plausible.”

However, “I don’t think he [Biden] was very clear about it. I think he should have been clear,” Dale concluded.

Thanks for that “clear” analysis CNN! We can all rest easy now that it the truth has come out in the open that the Biden administration intends to use hard working American taxpayer dollars to compensate criminals who illegally crossed our border. Whether it is $450,000 or $50,000 you can be sure the march to the border will accelerate.
