(Amber Crawford) At Rosemont High School in Sacramento, California, two black students have been found responsible for racist graffiti on school property and creating a “hate hoax”.

Initially, the Sheriff’s office received a report from the high school that “racist graffiti had been written in pencil on the wall of a hallway inside a campus building.”
The graffiti on the wall read “All n***ers should die”.
On Tuesday evening, after examining security footage, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office posted an update on the case to their Facebook page, revealing the students responsible were in fact two “African-American female juveniles.”
Though there was minimal damage to the school’s property, the statement from the Sheriff’s office said they will “consult with the Juvenile Division of the District Attorney’s Office if criminal charges are warranted.”

Last week, the school district’s superintendent Jorge A. Aguilar released a statement saying, “Sac City Unified does not take any incident of racism lightly, and that is why we are widely sharing that another act of disgraceful racist graffiti has taken place in our schools. As a community, we need to loudly condemn this hateful act. Racist incidents will not be tolerated in our schools.”
When Aguilar says “another act”, he is likely referencing another staged incident of racism that occurred in February of this year. A black female student in the very same school district wrote “white” and “colored” above the school drinking fountains. However, instead of facing repercussions for her disturbing actions, she was defended by the school district, which determined her act was not one of racism or hate, but rather just a misguided prank.” Imagine if a white student did that. There would be a very different response if that were the case.

The Board President of the school district also released a statement, saying “The Board of Education is unified and committed to providing a safe and anti-racist learning environment for our students. We fully denounce all racist behavior, and will continue to do whatever we can to support our African-American community members who need to feel welcomed and loved at our schools.”
While the Superintendent and Board President highly condemned this new case of racist, hateful vandalism, it remains to be seen if they will just sweep this one under the rug as well now that they know who was responsible. If they are so committed to creating a “safe and anti-racist learning environment,” why won’t they hold the students accountable? Regardless of their race, these students are the ones spreading hate and racism. Despite what they say, those in charge of the di don’t “fully” denounce all racist behavior.
