(Elizabeth Allen) In a stunning Interim Staff Report of United States Senate Subcommittee on Government Operations and Border Management Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, the Biden administration is literally wasting $3 million per day for a total of $2.087 billion to date to NOT build the southern border wall.

On Biden’s first day of office, January 20, 2021, he issued Presidential Proclamation 10142, stopping all construction and fund obligations for the construction of the Southern border wall. The executive order also included a “study” the border wall construction including all contracts awarded and redirected transferred funds from DOD accounts back to their original projects from which they had been appropriated. The study was to take place over 60 days with a report due at the end with recommendations.
“It has been 180 days since the 60-day study commenced. As of the drafting of this report, no study findings have been released by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or the Biden Administration,” the report states.
According to the report, at the end of the Trump administration, $10 billion had been transferred to U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) accounts for border wall construction and related projects. This means that Biden has wasted nearly 20% ($2 billion) of those funds doing nothing more than terminating contracts and guarding already purchased materials and equipment for the building of the wall.
“This waste of taxpayer resources threatens military readiness and national security,” the report asserts.
The report also raises concerns of the seemingly endless stream of illegal migrants crossing the border, bringing into question Biden’s unmitigated polices surrounding immigration and the disregard of federal law.
“The Biden Administration is paying contractors at least $3 million per day to guard steel, concrete, and other materials in the desert. At the same time, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has encountered over 1.1 million migrants along the Southwest border this fiscal year – a 20 year high.1 This policy decision raises significant concerns about the Biden Administration’s immigration agenda and requires both Congressional oversight and legislative action,” the report states.
The costs are astronomical, especially when you add in the monies spent on detention facilities, transportation to release the immigrants, many who are infected with COVID, into the general population and the estimated 1 million more who are expected to come in the next six months.
It is unfortunate that “Congressional oversight” will amount to pretty much nothing, especially given the makeup of Congress. Even if Congress is flipped in 2022, any border monies will have been thrown away on not building the wall, the influx of immigrants will reshape America and there is no doubt the national debt will have skyrocketed beyond anything imaginable.
