The Sign of Scorpio – Host of Halloween
Demons, goblins, ghouls, vampires, zombies, parasites…these are some of the mainstream concepts we may think of from our modern-day connection to what was originally an ancient pagan, and metaphysically based holiday. Where are the Angels, Benevolent E.T.s, Saints, Supernatural Heroes, Spirits of our departed loved ones, and Ancestors in the midst of all this? They are marginalized and almost forgotten.
It’s actually not an accident that our materialistic world has been encouraging us to overlook that which could help us to overcome its trappings, with this kind of obscuring of higher vibrations and distraction away from greater vantage points. Given how much we are systematically encouraged into the baser, lowest possible expressions of our energy at every turn, it’s no real surprise that a sacred day where the veil of spirits becomes thin has been inverted as a profane, horror-magnifying, sugar-debauchery-intoxicating, and portal-to-hell-opening “cause for celebration.”
Those souls whose 3rd eyes are open, with their multi-dimensional sight intact, can see through these kinds of material illusions, into the deeper truth and uncover the secrets of things. The ability to penetrate the mysteries of life and see through deception and lies are some of the many hallmarks of the sign, season, and energy of Scorpio. This is possible on an even psychic or intuitive level with this sign. As we look into the current planetary movements this Halloween season, we can gain a deeper understanding of the energies and possible manifestations at play, even potentially using them to our transformational/evolutionary advantage.
Relationships of Spiritual Revolution
Venus, the planet of balance, beauty, and relationships, is currently traveling through the freedom-loving, spirited sign of Sagittarius, making a harmonious sextile aspect (connection) to the planet Jupiter (ruler of Sagittarius), who is traveling through the airy and intellectual sign of Aquarius. This aspect is perfect on October 28th, at 3:15 p.m. (all times EST), and represents a flowing connection between these energies, specifically with an increased ability to set and accomplish goals with the support of friends and loved ones. Given the affinity (sextile) that these two positively charged (fire & air) signs have for each other, and the energies of friendship and community they each represent, we can see greater support and alliances manifesting from new and old channels both. As we explore new multidimensional and spiritual territory, we consciously bridge this kind of future into our collective now.
Venus, at this time, is also releasing her square (tense aspect) to Neptune, the planet of idealism and Spirituality, which is currently retrograding (initiating deeper review) through its home sign of dreamy Pisces. This can reflect our challenge (square) to overcome unrealistic idealism in our relationships, as well as the disillusionment that can come with it. Neptune & Pisces represent both dreams-come-true and illusions, or self-deception. Overcoming any tendencies of feeling sorry for ourselves, especially for our own blind spots in our relating, can be a key or pitfall to manifesting the real ideal culture of grounded, yet high-vibe relationships.
Warriors of Light & Dark Battle for the Earth and our Souls

On Saturday (Saturn’s day) October 30th, at 5:42 a.m., the Sun, ruler of fiery Leo and the areas where we shine, squares Saturn (ruler of Capricorn, duty, and limitations), who is currently traveling through revolutionizing Aquarius, indicating a sense of responsibility or even restriction, challenging our freedom to be ourselves and build the soul-purpose-based future our hearts long for. Some potential roadblocks or rites of passage must be completed first, in order to see our vision through to fruition. With the Sun currently traveling through Scorpio, illuminating the shadows of our underworld, we can finally see light where there was darkness, and focus on working through any challenges with commitment and grit, bringing us closer to our true self’s expression.
Mars, planet of ambition & action, and ancient ruler of Scorpio, enters this, his home sign, later that morning of October 30th, at 10:21 a.m., bringing with him passion and energy as he dives deep here, into his desire nature. Mars in Scorpio demands that we dig down, within our own soul, to be victorious over our heavier emotions a.k.a. the inner demons that plague us, and rise like a phoenix from the ashes of our shadow nature, transmuting our pain into power through the natural Alchemy inherent in this sign.
The sign of Scorpio also rules inoculations, pandemics, deep healing, detoxing, toxicity in general, as well as power and the control games that often accompany it. Currently, Pluto, the modern ruler of Scorpio, is transiting Capricorn, the sign of government, representing a perfect illustration of these issues playing out on a global scale. So as the world control structures continue to exemplify these dynamics, giving us a perfect opportunity to learn the right use of our own power–by no longer projecting it outside of ourselves–let us all send love and empowerment to places like Cuba and Australia to overcome the horrific tyranny running rampant there, and embolden the same for ourselves and others everywhere. This includes the frightening and growing trend of this in the U.S., with rights being trampled, shockingly so, and not enough people who seem to care. We hold the line best by allowing for peace in the midst of chaos, and recognizing the true source of the battle that rages is within, seeing that through acceptance of death, we are more empowered to value love and life, and win.
Be a Light in the Darkness this Samhain/Halloween!

Halloween falls on the Sun’s day (Sunday) October 31st, with the Sun and Mars both in Scorpio, showering the day with vitality with the Sun’s typically luminous energy ruling this day. Meanwhile, the Moon in earthy, practical Virgo, is sextiling the Sun, giving us fuel to shine and express ourselves and emotions in grounded, practical, and potentially excellent ways.
Sunset starts the official ancient Celtic, or contemporary pagan holiday, Samhain (pronounced SAH-win), which is distinct from Halloween as it explicitly connects to the original spiritual significance of the temporary bridging between the world of the living and dead; an ideal time of year to make contact with those who have passed, and are usually “beyond the veil.” Just after midnight, November 1st, at 12:14 a.m., Mercury, planet of thoughts and communication, perfects its trine (the most harmonious aspect) with Jupiter, planet of expansion, growth, and abundance. The supportive and expansive energy of Jupiter in combination with fast-thinking communicator Mercury creates an energy where we can access, envision, and share inspiration, or higher ideals, with our sense of adventure leading the way. If one were interested in contacting spiritual forces of Love and upliftment, this is an outstanding time to do it. A seance with Angelic Forces is available to those who seek it, more at this moment than possibly ever before!!
The Day of the Dead/Día de los Muertos

Mercury squares Pluto, Tuesday (Mars’ day), November 2nd, at 5:34 a.m., also known as All Soul’s Day, or the Day of the Dead in Mexican traditions. It’s interesting to note that many different cultures, half a world away from one another, have a similar relationship to this time of year, recognizing our unbreakable bond to souls departed from this realm, yet still accessible in other realms. Far more than coincidence, this shows the interconnectedness of our planetary consciousness and even our inborn connection to unseen realms.
With this challenging aspect between these planets, we may become present to potential cruelty in thought or speech, within ourselves or others, and would be wise to remain grounded through deep breathing, mild physical activity, (being careful not to overdo it), or doing anything that can help discharge excess mental activity. By recognizing the power of our thoughts and words, we can avoid any unconscious tendencies for them to manifest in deeds that exhibit the shadows we wish to grow beyond. We can view this as a positive example of how death can help us to release the past and move on, rather than perpetuate it, despite the magnetic pull these forces may seem to have over us, at times.
Mercury out of Shadow & New Moon in Scorpio – Rebirth, and Resurrection

Mercury leaves the shadow of its recent retrograde period (through the sign of Libra, ruler of relationship) on the evening of November 2nd, at 9:16 p.m. This gives us a fresh environment for progress in our communications, built on the lessons from challenges or lack of communication clarity that we may have experienced, especially in our relationships, since that process began, on September 27th. Only two days later, the New Moon in Scorpio perfects on November 4th, at 5:14 p.m. New Moons are known to be the best time to plant seeds, and therefore represent birth, and new life: the beginning of a new cycle. With the New Moon offering us this kind of reset in the sign of Scorpio, we are poised to experience renewal through regeneration, by embracing the start of a new cycle with this sign’s energy and all the areas it rules in our lives.
Shortly after, at 7:57 p.m., the Sun and Moon oppose Uranus, ruler of Aquarius and rebellion, bringing a sense of polarization between our individuality and the way we show up for others, perhaps feeling that they wish to control us or squash what makes us unique. The key is to be mindful of being too willful or unpredictable in our approach, as this can likely bring self-sabotage to our goals. Scorpio rules intensity as well as sexuality and extremes, reminding us of the power of life and death, which at times can feel like a sex and death rollercoaster. One of the biggest extremes and pitfalls of these energies can be seeing the shadow as something separate, and outside of the self, which is the greatest way to feed it and give it power over us. The truth is that shadow integration has nothing to do with claiming false positivity, and everything to do with reality, neutrality and wholeness. Fundamentally, it comes down to the reconciliation of opposites, and surrender to what was once polarized as “unacceptable,” turning it into the fuel that moves us ahead. This integrates the once disowned pieces of ourselves, to where they can start to function within and as a whole again. For example, anger can be Holy if contained and directed properly towards necessary change.
Scorpio excels at eliminating poison, in its higher expressions, so if we allow ourselves the gift of letting go (a culmination of the natural death process), we are best able to accept the dark places that we experience, activating the medicine in the poison, by utilizing the proper dose, accepting just enough negativity that it may catalyze our growth. That kind of acceptance enables us to transform the negative into the positive, a skill that is one of the highest promises and capacities of Scorpio. In popular culture, J.K. Rowling’s 7th book in the Harry Potter series illuminates this symbolic phenomenon best through the concept of “The Deathly Hallows,” (related image featured above) and the idea of mastery over death by embracing its inevitability. By welcoming the death, and rebirth process that accompanies this phase-change of leaving this realm for those beyond, we can revitalize ourselves in this lifetime, finding resurrection, by taking this inspiration for eliminating the parts of our personalities and lives that no longer serve our purpose or evolution.
Remember Remember, the 5th of November

In modern times, the 5th of November has gotten alot of attention in relation to the U.K. Holiday, Guy Fawkes day, resounding as a symbol of rebellion and revolution for the disenfranchised working class. As we connect with these transformational energies prevalent in our world at this time, with mass protests against systemic injustice increasing regularly across the world, we are reminded this day that the future is of our own making, and that even one person’s shift in perspective can change the course of history. This November 5th has three main energy shifts within it, as three different celestial bodies will be changing signs: Venus enters Capricorn at 6:46 a.m. (where she will retrograde for 40 days, starting on December 19th – stay tuned for upcoming article), Mercury enters Scorpio at 6:34 p.m., and the Moon enters Sagittarius at 9:34 p.m., indicating this will be a dynamic day with lots of forward momentum. Each of these celestial bodies will reflect these energetic changes in the domains that they rule. Venus’ ingress into Capricorn will move the energy of our values and relating from free-spirited and flowing Sagittarius, into steadfast and stable Capricorn. Mercury will move our thinking and speech from fair and balanced Libra, to intense and powerful Scorpio, and the Moon moving into Sagittarius will meld our emotional needs through fiery and visionary, intuitive feeling.
It’s easy to be pessimistic in this world, and most pessimists would only consider themselves “realists,” understandably so, given the harsher truths about this world and its challenges. But what pessimism (a shadow of Scorpio) often misses, is how our own personal relationship to darkness defines how we experience it, and if we fixate on the negative, we will surely attract more of it, as what we focus on expands. However, if we can see more of the full-spectrum long view, and understand the potentially positive end results of negativity (like how death and the broken-down nutrients of a decaying body feed the soil, plants and ultimately bring new life), we can use this same power of life and death, claiming full awareness of this force’s connection to all things in this realm, and consciously align with our own power/ Scorpio nature. In choosing how we wish to work with the energies of pain, suffering, and death, with appreciation for their unavoidable role in our lives, we are able to consciously choose whether or not the darkness gives us light.

Stillness in the Storm Editor: Why did we post this?
Astrology is an ancient form of psychology coupled with theology, based on the assumption that your life path and personality is influenced by the positions of the stars. In modern times, this ancient school of thought has come under much scrutiny, and rightfully so, given it has been the bastion of charlatans and scam artists. But there appears to be something real at work. Epistemologically, if a body of claimed knowledge provides predicting power, if it’s useful and pragmatic, then it suggests there’s some truth to it. Astrology is also a taxonomy—an arbitrary system of organizing phenomena for ease of use and comprehension in human life. The preceding article discusses astrology, providing food for thought about subtle influences. This information is helpful to contemplate because it is a topic of subtle and holistic connections, which is a topic close to the concept of the Creator and a creation made for a purpose. Additionally, because astrology is difficult to prove objectively, yet provides valid objective descriptions of reality, it is an excellent subject to study to expand one’s thinking and exercises holistic philosophy skills. With the ability to recognize subtle interconnected realities, one has the power to gain much wisdom and even approach Creator-consciousness if one maintains an open mind and a critical discerning eye.
