A Brief History of Witches

(Robert Sepehr) Throughout the early modern period, the English term “witch” was not exclusively negative in meaning, and could also indicate practitioners of folk medicine, folk magic, and divination, often involving out-of-body experiences and traveling though the realms of a hidden of “other-world”.

During the time leading up to the  witchcraft trials in Europe, the staple bread was made with rye, which would host a mold called “ergot”.  ergot, in high doses, can be lethal, a fact that led to the rise in popularity of wheat bread, which is resistant to ergot mold. In smaller doses, ergot is a powerful hallucinogenic drug that is the central ingredient in the ointment that witches rubbed their broomsticks with.

You see, when eaten, there was the risk of death, but when absorbed through the thin tissues of the female genitals, the hallucinogenic effects were more pronounced with less ill-effects.  The modern image of a witch riding a broomstick was inspired by the sight of a woman rubbing herself on the drug coated smooth stick of her broom.

What is our mission? Why do we post what we do?

Our mission here is to curate (share) articles and information that we feel is important for the evolution of consciousness. Most of that information is written or produced by other people and organizations, which means it does not represent our views or opinions as managing staff of Stillness in the Storm. Some of the content is written by one of our writers and is clearly marked accordingly. Just because we share a CNN story that speaks badly about the President doesn’t mean we’re promoting anti-POTUS views. We’re reporting on the fact as it was reported, and that this event is important for us to know so we can better contend with the challenges of gaining freedom and prosperity. Similarly, just because we share a pro/anti-[insert issue or topic] content, such as a pro-second amendment piece or an anti-military video doesn’t mean we endorse what is said. Again, information is shared on this site for the purpose of evolving consciousness. In our opinion, consciousness evolves through the process of accumulating knowledge of the truth and contemplating that knowledge to distill wisdom and improve life by discovering and incorporating holistic values. Thus, sharing information from many different sources, with many different perspectives is the best way to maximize evolution. What’s more, the mastery of mind and discernment doesn’t occur in a vacuum, it is much like the immune system, it needs regular exposure to new things to stay healthy and strong. If you have any questions as to our mission or methods please reach out to us at [email protected].

Wow Justin..this is disgusting…wondering why you chose to include it. Glorifies the Inquisition and demonizes Jews and pagans. Please remove it.

Faith. I appreciate your perspective but your conclusions wrong here. The man simply produced a documentary of history, there was no opinion about jews or pagans. He did not demonize anyone. As a matter of fact, he inferred that altered states of consciousness through mysticism and alchemy were beneficial, despite being suppressed by the Church. It was informative and interesting, made by someone with sound journalistic integrity, this is the reason why we shared it.

Before you talk about Robert Sepehr’s “sound journalistic integrity” you may wish to read about him.

This guy has been running scams on the internet since the 1990s. His latest is Robert Sepehr the anthropologist. I thought the book review by anthropologist Andy White along with the reviews by the students of his Forbidden Archeology class to be very eye opening on his racism and even support of Nazis!
