10 Things Money Can’t Buy | Money will never buy Spiritual Fulfillment

Wednesday, January 7, 2015 By Justin Deschamps 1 Comment

Spread the love

Money, of course, can buy many things, or more precisely used a form of exchange to facilitate the transfer of goods. It is a representation of value, which is a subjective determination, not an objective quality of items in general.

The material world is usually where money dominates, but many of the things that make life rewarding: the pursuit of knowledge, the love of your fellows, a kind act of compassion can not be represented with debt instruments. And if we are not careful, if we allow our world view to become based purely on the things money can provide us, then we can slip into a deterministic mode of thinking, limiting our enjoyment of life, and trapping us into egocentric thought forms.

Money in relation to the world and humanity, what it was designed for, how it is defined in legal codes and equity, is a tool for the state to manage the incompetent and ignorant slaves. These are not my words, I am just sharing how the system at large conceptualizes money, and when we consider how it is used, many times money is an incentive to do immoral acts, or keep us dependent on the wares of the system.

As such, we can use money as a tool, for that is all it is, but become aware of its total effects on earth, eventually we can come to realise using money means accepting a whole host of contractual obligations, and making us liable for government action. We discussed this in detail in the post The UCC Connection – How the Uniform Commercial Code ‘secretly took over’ the world.

All of this just further underscores the items listed below, helping us place value on things which transcend the material world, and provide a genuine spiritual experience.

The beginning of a new year is a perfect time for reflection; an excellent occasion to rearrange our priorities, and to set up new goals. A unique opportunity to make an introspective analysis of our real values, principles and beliefs.
The list below is a compilation of wise quotes and statements on the top 10 things money can’t buy.

# 1. Health

Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived. – Dalai Lama

# 2. Love

If you want to distinguish between those who love you unreservedly, and those who love your money, try losing all your money. – Jordi Alemany

# 3. Happiness

Money has never made man happy, nor will it, there is nothing in its nature to produce happiness. The more of it one has, the more one wants. – Benjamin Franklin

# 4. Integrity

To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity. – Douglas Adams

# 5. Respect

Money is your means of survival. The verdict you pronounce upon the source of your livelihood is the verdict you pronounce upon your life. If the source is corrupt, you have damned your own existence. Did you get your money by fraud? By pandering to men’s vices or men’s stupidity? By catering to fools, in the hope of getting more than your ability deserves? By lowering your standards? By doing work you despise for purchasers you scorn? If so, then your money will not give you a moment’s or a penny’s worth of joy. Then all the things you buy will become, not a tribute to you, but a reproach; not an achievement, but a reminder of shame. Then you’ll scream that money is evil. Evil, because it would not pinch-hit for your self-respect? Evil, because it would not let you enjoy your depravity? Is this the root of your hatred of money? – Ayn Rand

# 6. Peace of Mind

Money cannot buy peace of mind. It cannot heal ruptured relationships, or build meaning into a life that has none. – Richard M. DeVos

# 7. Ethics

It’s good to have money and the things that money can buy, but it’s good, too, to check up once in a while and make sure that you haven’t lost the things that money can’t buy. – George Lorimer

# 8. Education

Humans aren’t as good as we should be in our capacity to empathize with feelings and thoughts of others, be they humans or other animals on Earth. So maybe part of our formal education should be training in empathy. Imagine how different the world would be if, in fact, that were ‘reading, writing, arithmetic, empathy.’ – Neil deGrasse Tyson

# 9. Intelligence

Bottom line is, I didn’t return to Apple to make a fortune. I’ve been very lucky in my life and already have one. When I was 25, my net worth was $100 million or so. I decided then that I wasn’t going to let it ruin my life. There’s no way you could ever spend it all, and I don’t view wealth as something that validates my intelligence. – Steve Jobs

# 10. Spiritual Enlightenment

Money can buy a house, but not a home. It can buy a bed, but not sleep. It can buy a clock, but not time. It can buy a book, but not knowledge. It can buy blood, but not health, so you see; money is not everything in life. – Unknown

What is our mission? Why do we post what we do?

Our mission here is to curate (share) articles and information that we feel is important for the evolution of consciousness. Most of that information is written or produced by other people and organizations, which means it does not represent our views or opinions as managing staff of Stillness in the Storm. Some of the content is written by one of our writers and is clearly marked accordingly. Just because we share a CNN story that speaks badly about the President doesn’t mean we’re promoting anti-POTUS views. We’re reporting on the fact as it was reported, and that this event is important for us to know so we can better contend with the challenges of gaining freedom and prosperity. Similarly, just because we share a pro/anti-[insert issue or topic] content, such as a pro-second amendment piece or an anti-military video doesn’t mean we endorse what is said. Again, information is shared on this site for the purpose of evolving consciousness. In our opinion, consciousness evolves through the process of accumulating knowledge of the truth and contemplating that knowledge to distill wisdom and improve life by discovering and incorporating holistic values. Thus, sharing information from many different sources, with many different perspectives is the best way to maximize evolution. What’s more, the mastery of mind and discernment doesn’t occur in a vacuum, it is much like the immune system, it needs regular exposure to new things to stay healthy and strong. If you have any questions as to our mission or methods please reach out to us at [email protected].

Well said. I think that balancing the need for money to obtain a desired life(style) and the quest for obtaining a balanced spiritual life are the most difficult part of existence, in this time. Especially with the Web and Media constantly pounding us with what is available to have if one has money. There is always a commercial on view to show you what material item you do not have that will bring you happiness. There are too few places to see examples of how to find happiness from within.

It is an unfortunate reflection of this time, that so little empathy for our fellow humans exists. We see how easily groups of people swayed by false prophets speaking words purported to be the truth, but in fact, distort the truth and incite animosity.

Keep speaking the truth. So few are doing it. So many are afraid to.

I believe Most people are good and try to do good things every day, but we wouldn't believe there were any good people in the world if we relied on the media to show it!
