Interpretations: “Ego-centrics balloon into visibility.” – The term ego-centric refers to a personality consciousness arrangement that is centered (centric) around the ego, our limited and sometimes static vision of self. The term ego refers to our image or vision of self, which is always limited, but not necessarily negative. Consciousness is separated by degrees of actualization and specificity, which means that in order for the infinite potential hidden within each person to manifest itself, a specific part of it must be invoked and focused upon. Someone without an ego can’t actually do anything in the universe, for that requires specification or collapsing of infinite potentials. Hence the infinite creator cannot know itself but through the illusion of creation. For example, the potential of a child to learn to read—so long as they have working eyes—is inherent, yet requires focus upon the task of recognizing symbols and associating them to ideas. Similarly, a person can learn to draw (a potential), but in order to master this skill, time and energy of focus are required. Thus, the infinite potentials inherent within all beings of consciousness are given expression through the space-time and time-space realms wherein venues of limitation funnel or direct the energy of awareness into action. For us, within creation, we come to know our potentials through expression, which manifest discretely enough for us to recognize.
The ego is important because it provides a point of focus wherein the characteristics of actualized beingness—all the wisdom we have gained in the time-space nexuses of life—find a vehicle for expression. In the grandest sense, our ego is that dynamic aspect of self that changes to suit a particular situation. What came first is our infinite essence or nature, the undifferentiated and actualized potentials of consciousness. What comes second is the realization of a potential through an ordering of consciousness—the formation of an identity that enabled us to use our bodily vehicle for some unique form of expression. The problem is that when we forget our true nature of infinite potential—which is ironically the thing we strive to return back to—the ego becomes rigid, calcified, and static. Hence, those who suffer from materialistic thinking and philosophy often become ego-centric, narcissistic, unhappy, unchanging people. When we begin to identify with the roles we play in life instead of the adventure of exploring the universe and ourselves through roles, we’ve become ego-centric. Obviously, the ego-identity of driving a car won’t serve us too well if we aren’t in a car. Similarly, the ego-identity of fending off an attacker isn’t needed when there isn’t anyone to defend against. As such, ego-centricness can be defined as the tendency to get trapped in one form of limited identity when it isn’t appropriate. The situations in life are constantly changing, and the better we are able to change with the flow of the universe the more we’ll gain from the experiences life has to offer. A musician who can’t adjust their tune when the music changes aren’t as good as someone who can observe what’s happening around them and adapt their playing accordingly.
Now, when we become stuck in ego-centric ways of being, pain, suffering, mistake, and problems arise. Again, the ego-identity needed to drive a car isn’t helpful when one is walking down the street—they are two different and specialized aspects of consciousness needed to perform distinct behaviors. The good news is the fruit of ego-centricness is easy to recognize, yet hard to move past. Human beings on Earth at this time tend to suffer from unfounded pride, that is to say, we don’t like to face the truth about our mistakes and inadequacies. But without facing reality, we can’t learn, grow, and change. Ego-centricness, of all types and kinds, always manifests as things we can see and observe, ballooning into visibility. But are we willing to accept these things? A man who stubs his toe every day on the same stairstep likely hasn’t grasped the importance of that situation—they don’t see that in the stubbing lies the key to their rising above. This statement can be interpreted to mean that the ego-centric unmastered consciousness of humanity is able to be recognized, which forms the basis for personal change. Only those who are willing to accept the truth about themselves will be empowered to grow and gain mastery therefrom. One suffers not because life is insurmountable but because they have forgotten how to change to meet the challenges of existence.
“Recognitions are complete and thorough.” – Appropriately, this statement discusses recognition. Given the preceding statement of ego-centrics ballooning into visibility, this statement refers to recognition being complete and thorough. The Law of One material has an interesting reference to catalyst that is applicable here. A catalyst is a thing that initiates or causes a latent potential to manifest. The liquid water has the potential to become a gas (steam) if the catalyst of heat is applied. As was discussed above, the fruit of ego-centricness—once recognized—becomes a catalyzing agent for consciousness. Most people want to grow and evolve past their personality setbacks when discovered through life. When looking in the mirror the recognition of spinach in one’s teeth catalyzies them into removing it with a tooth pick. This statement can be interpreted to mean that as we recognize the unmasterd aspects of our beingness—so long as it is complete and thorough—it will empower us to change and grow.
“Generations are cycled and spiral into the Light of Truth.” – Again we have a statement that is causally tied to the preceding. Here, the term generation is likely referring to that principle of manifestation or creation, which is a foundational principle of the universe. The seventh hermetic principle of natural law is gender, referring to the ability of potentials to become manifest through an activating force. A woman’s eggs are fertilized by the sperm of a man. But the principle of gender is more than a sexual reference, wherein the attributes of femininity (receptiveness) are merged with the attributes of masculinity (catalyzation). Within the mind, the subconscious acts as the gateway to the unconscious, where all the potentials of a person’s consciousness lie dormant. The conscious mind has the power to choose where attention is focused (masculine), funneling the catalyzing data of awareness (observation) into the mind where it is received (feminine) and meanings are generated (off-spring). The masculine aspect of mind (choice) is not superior to the feminine aspect of mind (consciousness), both are essential to generate.
This statement can be interpreted to mean that the recognitions spoken of above are catalyzing events wherein we choose (male) to receive (female) the truth about ourselves, which generates the potential for wisdom. Here, the phrase cycled and spiraled into the Light of Truth implies that we not only accept this information but contemplate it thoroughly, so that it culminates in real personal change. Recognizing our inadequacies isn’t enough to change them. We have to think about them once they have been received in mind, compare them to the goal we are trying to realize, and then a plan of action can be formed to manifest it. A dancer who wants to perform in the ballet needs to practice in front of a mirror, revealing their mistakes, allowing the energy of awareness to focus precisely. The gulf between imagined ideal—the goal—and what we manifest in reality via our behavior is called the quality of our performance. All personal growth arises out of the bridging of this gulf, the realizing of desires and goals through generation between actual experience and what we envision. Interestingly enough, all skills and mastery of consciousness can be thought of as the sculpting of identity (ego) for the execution of a goal. The more precisely we can form this identity the more skillfully we will perform the task chosen. One of the secrets of personal growth is that we can choose tasks to perform, which improve our skill in sculpting the ego, which is the skill needed to realize all others. The primal skills of consciousness can be improved by almost any task, the key is to continually strive to learn from the process, the generations that are cycled and spiral into the Light of Truth.
“Galactics prevail in the New Era.” – Given the preceding statements in this update, this final phrase seems out of place. Yet, if we consider that in many symbolic systems referring to the evolution of consciousness, the galaxy often represents perfection or achievement. The Magician card in the Tarot if placed at the Keter position (the cosmos or galaxy) in the Kabalistic Tree refers to complete self-mastery and sovereignty.

Notice that the symbolism of As Above, So Below has been represented by the man point up and down with each hand respectively. Also, notice that the right hand is holding the magical rod, and all the physical objects for wielding in the world are also on the right side of the magician. This implies the masculine modality of active expression, with the feminine modality of receptivity and infinite potential on the left, pointed down, implied as the “void” or undifferentiated potential. The infinity symbol is above the head, representing cosmic consciousness, the creator manifested in the physical. One who sees the whole of creation, who guides their actions and desires with the cosmos as a whole is said to have cosmic or galactic consciousness. Finally, notice that the flowers are present below his feet, on Earth, and above his head, in the galaxy, suggesting that the fractal reflective nature of perfected living systems is a herald of cosmic attainment or growth. We know we are on the path of self-mastery and attainment whe we begin to reflect cosmic consciousness in all our pursuits.
In the allegorical framework described within the update, this statement can be interpreted to mean that one who dares to recognize and accept their ego-centricness is empowered to change and grow, walking the path of self-mastery. The new era is where those who have chosen this path will find increasing opportunities to evolve. The term prevail refers to victory or winning over opposing forces. In this case, the opposing forces are those animalistic tendencies to focus on the material realms and the ego, of stagnation, lack of growth, and sloth, which the magician or individual with galactic consciousness has transcended.
Finally, the allegory of growth via self-reflection was made on the last day of 2016, which can be interpreted to mean that the following year of 2017 will herald much. We will likely continue to see the horrors of this world, which have largely been hidden via ignorance, balloon into visibility. So long as we set aside egocentric desires, and recognize these truths, we can allow the insights of observation to generate the Light of Truth within—a recognition of cosmic ideals and values. Once done, the galactic potential within humanity will prevail, and the New Era unveiled.
PS – In December 2014, when Julian and I were discussing the idea of sharing these updates on the blog, he encouraged me to do more than just share the raw post. He said that we could offer our insights into what they could mean and in doing so create a venue for deep discussion and consciousness exploration. There were many times I wasn’t sure if others found any value in these interpretations, but Julian and others continued to urge me on in this venture. This is just one example of the countless ways he helped me in my life path, for which I am eternally grateful. I want to dedicate these interpretations to him and his memory. I will love you always Julian, and know that your zeal for creativity and loving service of others continues on.
