(Stillness in the Storm Editor) A month ago we started receiving feedback that the mobile site was having issues, specifically that readers weren’t able to scroll down to read longer article text without the page attempting to navigate to the next article.
Thankfully, a web developer quickly volunteered to redesign the mobile site (which is still in process at this time). We decided to disable the mobile site in the interim, thinking that it would be better than the older site.
However, another problem developed, readers were unable to zoom into the text to read articles, or the articles were formatted improperly, such that the text was falling off the screen, making it very difficult if not impossible to read articles.
At this point, it seems not using the older problematic mobile site is more of an inconvenience than using the desktop version on a mobile device.
As a result, we’ve decided to re-activate the older mobile site, which should make reading articles much easier. However, the problem of accidental navigation is still something to watch out for.
The issue occurs when using your finger or thumb on the mobile site to scroll up and down. This scrolling motion should be vertical only, moving your finger or thumb parallel to the side of the screen. If you accidentally scroll horizontally, even a little bit, the next or previous article feature will activate, and this might cause the page to navigate away.
When this occurs, the solution is to keep your finger held down and move it back to the center of the screen when you see the next or previous article prompt. This should prevent the prompt from navigating to another page, thereby allowing you to continue reading the article and not loose your place.
The new mobile site will be more streamlined and won’t have the navigate to previous or next article feature that is causing so much inconvenience. Hopefully that this will be ready for launch soon.
Thanks for your patience and understanding while we get this issue resolved.
