Project Veritas obtained audio from a Democrat in which a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives can be heard discussing a plan to get left-leaning candidates to run as Republicans. Krystele Matthews, a Democrat, referred to such candidates as “sleepers.”

The Project Veritas recording centered on a phone call between South Carolina State Rep. Krystele Matthews and an inmate at Perry Correctional Institution, was obtained in February. Matthews is currently running for Senate and will be facing Katherine Bruce in a runoff election for the Democratic nominee.

During the conversation, Krystele Matthews mentioned that some of the major goals of the Democratic party could be realized, even in deep red South Carolina, if Democrats infiltrated the GOP and ran as Republicans. “We need some secret sleepers. Like you need, we need them to run as the other side, even though they for our side. And we need them to win,” Matthews said.

“This is the only way you’re gonna change the dynamics in South Carolina.”

She mentioned that the two “sides” would publicly fight and disagree, but added that they would be working toward the same goal. “We could wreak havoc for real from the inside out,” she proclaimed.

Matthews went on to talk about the trouble she faces with funding her campaign. “Where the f**k is my black people with money? I don’t care about no dope money!” She then told the inmate to help her campaign by illegally funding it. “Find me somebody from your family that don’t even know you donating to my campaign and put that s**t under they names.”

This is not a new phenomenon. Several months ago, a GOP Congressional candidate in Arizona was found out to be one of these “sleepers” that Matthews is talking about.

The candidate, Alex Stovall, who was also recorded by Project Veritas, was caught saying how he really felt about Republicans. There is ample documentation of liberal candidates and activists infiltrating conservative elections and groups.
