(Martin Walsh) Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan is calling for an investigation into House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to find out her role in the events that occurred at the U.S. Capitol 18 months ago.

“The fundamental question is why wasn’t there a proper security posture that day? It wasn’t like we didn’t know there was a rally in town. It wasn’t like we didn’t know it would be a big rally, after all, it was a President Trump rally,” Jordan said.
“Why wasn’t there a proper security presence? That is a question that only the speakers roof the United States House of Representatives can answer. My guess is the reason she didn’t have the proper presence there is because–think about what happened last year. The Democrats normalized anarchy,” he added.
“They said, oh if you are a rioter or a looter, you are attacking police that we are defunding and you are destroying small business we are going to raise money to bail you out of jail. We now know with that background, she couldn’t have the presence you need that day.”
Pelosi’s team has claimed that neither she nor the Senate majority leader is not in charge of the security of the U.S. Capitol Complex.
Former President Donald Trump slammed the committee earlier this week, saying it was “not even a question” that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy should have put GOP lawmakers on the panel.
“Well, I think in retrospect, I think it would have been very smart to put [Republicans on the committee], and again, I wasn’t involved in it from a standpoint so I never looked at it too closely. But I think it would have been good if we had representation,” Trump told Punchbowl News in an interview.
Last year, McCarthy withdrew his Republican picks for the panel after Pelosi rejected two of his choices: Reps. Jim Jordan and Jim Banks.
“They were great and would’ve been great to have them,” Trump said of Jordan and Banks. “But when Pelosi wrongfully didn’t allow them, we should’ve picked other people. We have a lot of good people in the Republican Party.”
But Cheney got some bad news last week when the committee’s chairman announced that they would not make a criminal referral to the Department of Justice for Donald Trump.
The chairman of the committee, Rep. Bennie Thompson, was asked by a reporter if the committee would be sending criminal referrals for the former president or others and he responded by saying the committee does not have that authority.
“No, you know, we’re going to tell the facts. If the Department of Justice looks at it and assumes that there’s something that needs further review, I’m sure they’ll do it,” he said.
This was not what Rep. Cheney and other members of the committee wanted to hear.
“The January 6th Select Committee has not issued a conclusion regarding potential criminal referrals. We will announce a decision on that at an appropriate time,” the representative said in a tweet, but she was corrected.
But a spokesperson for the committee spoke to CNN and said, “the Select Committee has no authority to prosecute individuals, but is rather tasked with developing the facts surrounding the January 6th riot at the Capitol. Right now, the committee is focused on presenting our findings to the American people in our hearings and in our report. Our investigation is ongoing and we will continue to gather all relevant information as we present facts, offer recommendations and, if warranted, make criminal referrals.”
Democrat California Rep. Adam Schiff spoke to CNN and had a meltdown over the news.
Cheney, for her part, may have bigger issues as it appears she’s about to lose her seat.
