The pups appear to have died from lack of food and water, according to a translated Facebook post from UAnimals.
“The shelter suffered from the war, but the animals did not die from shelling and bombing,” UAnimals stated.
“They died a terrible death without food and water, locked in their cells,” the group noted.
The group called for those responsible for the dogs’ deaths to be “punished.”
UAnimals said it contacted law enforcement to have authorities open up an animal abuse investigation.
“We have to hold everyone accountable who kept silent and contributed to the tragedy,” the group wrote in the translated post.
