New Polling on Jan. 6 Destroys Dems’ Dreams: GOP’s Image Has Recovered

(Jonathan Davis) Never one to miss a political opportunity no matter how much damage she does to the country in the process, Speaker Nancy Pelosi jumped on the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol Building like a fat kid jumps on a box of jelly doughnuts.

Quick to hand-pick the most left-wing, partisan Democrats she could find, Pelosi allowed just two Republicans to serve, both of whom voted to impeach former President Trump following the riot and both of whom have been regular, vehement critics of ’45: Reps. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, neither of whom are likely to be sworn in to the next Congress come January 2023, based on current polling.

So right there, reasonable Americans knew that Pelosi wasn’t looking for a legitimate, fair investigation into what happened before, during, and after the riot — in which not a single one of the 725 people charged with crimes that day is facing anything close to “insurrection” or “sedition.”

We also knew that Pelosi was going to beat this ‘riot’ horse all the way up to the 2022 midterms, knowing that her friends in the left-wing ‘mainstream media’ would breathlessly report every ‘development’ in the panel’s never-ending probe as a ‘bombshell’ further implicating Trump and his supporters as enemies of the people.

But despite hers and the media’s best efforts to smear Trump and his party, a new survey has found that the GOP brand has not only recovered from Jan. 6, but Republicans are outpacing Democrats in key areas because Nancy’s party is over the top with its leftist agenda.

Using the inflammatory language that is typical of the left, Morning Consult nevertheless had to admit that, according to the polling firm’s findings, the GOP is no worse for wear these days:

Former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election — culminating in the deadly riot that sought to block Congress’ certification of President Joe Biden’s victory on Jan. 6 — marred voters’ views on the state of the GOP and prompted questions about whether it could recover in the future.

A year later, Morning Consult trend data paints a clear picture: It has. There is no lasting stain on the Republican brand, and though most voters continue to blame Trump for the events as a congressional probe moves through his orbit and homes in on him, they do not appear ready to punish Republicans for the attack on American democracy.

Here are a few reasons why this trend seems fairly self-explanatory to virtually anyone outside the protective cocoon of Washington D.C.:

— First of all, while many Americans think so because that’s what they were told, it seems obvious that a majority of us never saw what happened at the Capitol as an “insurrection.” Those are usually associated with armed action and the only person shot and killed that day was an unarmed female protester and Air Force vet named Ashli Babbitt — and shame on Democrats for not reacting to that police shooting the same way they react to others.

— Trump wasn’t trying to “overturn the election” so much as he was attempting to ensure that a constitutional process was followed, so he turned to the courts, which was his right to do. And Even Time magazine, a few weeks after Biden was inaugurated, reported on a massive behind-the-scenes pre-election effort that included getting [Democratic] officials in battleground states to arbitrarily change state voting laws and rules, even though the Constitution assigns that act to state legislatures.

— The truth is, Trump never implored the massive crowd that came to hear him speak on Jan. 6 to attack the Capitol or ‘disrupt’ the process of counting electoral votes. He asked them to march “peacefully” and the vast majority did.

In any event, while Pelosi continues to gaslight our country with this phony-baloney ‘commission, it’s not having the desired effect of destroying the GOP.
