Governor Gavin Newsom’s Office Responds After He Hasn’t Been Seen Publicly In Days

But the governor’s office has said he had to deal with an unspecified family, Fox News reported.

Newsom has not been seen in public since abruptly canceling his trip to the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow on Oct. 29 over “family obligations.” But KABC reported that he attended a wedding of “long-time family friend and Getty oil heiress Ivy Love Getty.” The report said Pelosi officiated.

Their offices did not immediately respond to after-hours emails from Fox News seeking comment. The report said the wedding was “star-studded” and Vogue had exclusive rights on all wedding photographs. The guests were asked to leave their phones at the entrance.

But Newsom’s disappearance coincided with him getting his COVID-19 vaccine booster, sparking rumors on the Internet.

“Gavin Newsom has not been heard from since he had his booster shot 11 days ago. There is no way that he would keep people guessing if the shot made him sick, and therefore less likely to get one themselves unless that’s exactly what happened,” one person said on Twitter.

Newsom had been planning the trip to Glasgow for more than a year but decided not to go and had Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis attend in his place.

First lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom squashed the rumors in a tweet of her own that has since been deleted.

But on Saturday the governor did attend the wedding of family friend and Getty oil heiress Ivy Love Getty, ABC7 reported.

“The wedding was officiated by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, just back from her big infrastructure bill victory,” the report said.

“One might expect such a star-studded event to trigger a constellation of tweets from guests but alas they were all told to park their phones at the door, as Vogue had an exclusive on all wedding photographs,” it said.

The governor’s office also issued a response to his disappearance.

““Last week Governor Newsom worked in the Capitol with staff on urgent issues including COVID-19 vaccines for kids, boosters, ports, the forthcoming state budget and California’s continued economic recovery. He will have public events this week related to the economy and vaccines,” it said.

Two California state senators bristled at questions regarding the governor’s disappearance when asked about it in Scotland.

“In press conference from Scotland, CA Sen. John Laird says story of @GavinNewsom’s absence and near-two-week-silence is ‘overblown’ because his administration has a big presence there, especially the branches that ‘are most related to climate,’” CalMatters reporter Emily Hoven said on Twitter.

“Many questions focused on Newsom’s absence. @SenBobHertzberg: ‘Look, they said it was a family issue. There is no one in California who wanted to be at this conference more than Gavin Newsom. But we’re all human beings, man. I don’t think it’s appropriate to dig further into it,’” she said.

“Gavin Newsom hasn’t been seen since he got a booster shot in public. Rumor is going around that he has a vaccine injury.
