To make things more outrageous, she used campaign funds to do it!
Daily Wire reports on this hilariously awful move by AOC.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, in another move to make herself ubiquitous, paid a political merchandise firm a whopping $1.4 million from her campaign coffers just in the first six months of 2021 to create T-shirts and hats with leftist slogans such as “Tax the Rich” and “Abolish ICE” — much of the merchandise featuring her initials.
What is insane about this is that most of the money she invested doesn’t go into manufacturing the clothing, it’s what she has paid a design firm to develop the concepts and branding.
Only a small fraction goes into paying workers in third-world countries to make these t-shirts.
Ironic how more than likely, child laborers are the ones being forced to glue AOC’s initials onto shirts preaching about economic equality for all.
Or how about the worker whose village’s water supply has been polluted by fabric dying chemicals forced to stitch a shirt that reads, “Drink Water & Don’t Be Racist”
That sum paid to Financial Innovations, a political merchandise firm, according to campaign disclosures to the Federal Election Commission, is roughly twice as much as what she paid to the firm the previous two years, the Daily Mail noted.
All in all, AOC has been spending millions of dollars on merchandising and branding herself in popular culture. It’s hard to fathom that the figure of $1.4 million dollars is just for the first six months of 2021. It’s going to get larger.
What does spending over a million dollars with a design firm get you? Have a look.
Last December, The Daily Wire reported, “At her online store at shop.ocasiocortez.com, the former bartender is selling sweatshirts that say, ‘TAX THE RICH.’ You can also buy a ‘New Green Deal’ coffee mug for $27. Then there’s the ‘Drink Water & Don’t Be Racist’ T-shirt for $27. And the ‘cancel student debt’ shirt for the same price. And the ‘ABOLISH ICE’ dad hat for $28. But the ‘SOCIAL ECONOMIC RACIAL JUSTICE’ sweatshirt will set you back $65.
All of that for one low price of 1.4 million dollars. To add insult to injury, she doesn’t accept refunds or exchanges. Sounds a lot like her legislative philosophy.
AOC’s entitlement is only overshadowed by her lack of self-awareness. She considers herself a hard worker while many people in her district are working three jobs yet can’t afford rent.
In December 2020, Ocasio-Cortez bragged that she was a hard worker while Republicans just “sit around on leather chairs all day.”
She tweeted, “The thing that these conservative Senators don’t seem to understand is that I’ve actually had a physically difficult working-class job without good healthcare most of my adult life. I bring that work ethic to Congress & to my community. They sit around on leather chairs all day.”
It may be impossible for most people to believe that throwing 1.4 million dollars at a design firm and then sitting back and waiting is hard work, but it isn’t impossible for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
If the firm Financial Innovations sounds familiar, it should.
Financial Innovations has also created merchandise for Elizabeth Warren, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden. According to Andrew Frawley, who managed the merchandise operation for Andrew Yang’s 2020 presidential campaign, the Ocasio-Cortez campaign could accrue at least a 50% profit from sales of the merchandise.
Interesting how so many Democrat politicians give this single firm millions of dollars in contracts to print t-shirts manufactured in China.
