Wood had sought to challenge incumbent Drew McKissick, who had drawn the endorsement of former President Donald Trump prior to the election. McKissick took nearly 70% of the vote, with Wood nabbing just 28%.
Wood himself had run partly on a platform of promising to continue litigating the results of the 2020 election, which he has claimed was stolen from Trump on behalf of now-President Joe Biden.
The lawyer, known also for his defense of falsely accused security guard Richard Jewell, hinted on Saturday that he believed McKissick’s victory was also suspect, calling it an “establishment created election.”
