(Kyle Becker) One of the funniest things you will see all day is CNN host Brian Stelter dunking on legacy media for perpetuating yet another Russia hoax story.
by Kyle Becker, May 2nd, 2021
The absurdity started on Saturday, when the Washington Post, New York Times, and NBC issued painful retractions to a story that implied Rudy Giuliani and One America News Network ignored FBI warnings the Russians had them in their sights.
The Washington Post kicked things off.
Correction: An earlier version of this story, published Thursday, incorrectly reported that One America News was warned by the FBI that it was the target of a Russian influence operation. That version also said the FBI had provided a similar warning to Rudolph W. Giuliani, which he has since disputed. This version has been corrected to remove assertions that OAN and Giuliani received the warnings.

The Post had to backpeddle to simply acknowledge Giuliani ‘disputed’ the report, even though one should not make baseless accusations in reports.

The New York Times has also issued a correction, after stealth-editing it. CNN’s Oliver Darcy noted the

NBC also had to issue a retraction. This caused Brian Stelter of “Reliable Sources” to issue a cautionary tale to the journalists involved.
“The new story is that FBI planned to warn Rudy and OAN they might be used as Russian puppets, but they didn’t actually deliver the warning,” Stelter said. The CNN host brought on senior media reporter Oliver Darcy to discuss the botched reportage.
“In this case, that appears to be what has happened with all of these news organizations,” Darcy said. “The bottom line is there are safeguards in place, unfortunately, human error is still at play and news organizations sometimes do get burned like this.”
Unfortunately, CNN has been one of the key propagators of the Russia collusion narrative, which was debunked by the Mueller investigation and still remains baseless to this day.
The Washington Free Beacon unveiled a montage showing Stelter breathlessly discussing the Russia collusion story in 2020, while highlighting Stelter’s ridiculous accusation that conservative media were obsessed with the story.

In September, the Free Beacon noted that Stelter has a long history of projection when it comes to the Russia investigation.
“CNN’s Brian Stelter refused to acknowledge that there was no collusion found between Russia and President Trump in the Mueller investigation and blatantly ignored the fact that the Steele dossier was a setup on The Hugh Hewitt Show…” the Beacon reported. “Instead, the CNN media reporter, who joined the show to promote his new book ‘Hoax: Donald Trump, Fox News, and the Dangerous Distortion of Truth,’ continued to question Trump’s unproven ‘ties with Russia’.”
“You know, I’m not going to play a game about a word that is irrelevant to the question at hand. There’s still a lot we don’t know about the president’s ties with Russia, period,” Stelter said.
