The account on Gab set up for Donald Trump has been reposting his tweets from Twitter for some time.
On the 4th of February, a post was made that led some to believe Trump personally made his first official post on Gab. There is no evidence to confirm or deny that suspicion, although past precedent would suggest the post was made on behalf of Trump—not made by Trump himself.
Of course, after Trump was suspended from Twitter on the 8th of January, there have resultingly been no posts on Gab for the @realdonaldtrump account—accept the one below.
Having clarified the question as to whether or not Trump made the post himself (we don’t know for sure but he likely did not) we can look at the post itself.
It’s an image of a letter from Bruce L. Castor Jr and David I Schoen, attorneys to the 45th President Donald J. Trump.
It reads:
Response to Democratic Congressman Jamie Raskin
Dear Congressman Raskin:
We are in receipt of your latest public relations stunt. As you certainly know, there is no such thing as a negative inference in this unconstitutional proceeding.
Your letter only confirms what is known to everyone: you cannot prove your allegations against the 45th President of the United States, who is now a private citizen.
The use of your Constitution to bring a purported impeachment proceeding is much too series to try and play these games.
The letter is in reference to Raskin’s statements in the media earlier this week after Trump declined the invitation to personally testify on behalf of his defense in the second impeachment trial, set to begin next week on February 9th.
According to the Hill, Raskin said:
“[I]n a statement issued late Thursday, said Trump’s refusal to testify “speaks volumes and plainly establishes an adverse inference supporting his guilt.”
“Despite his lawyers’ rhetoric, any official accused of inciting armed violence against the government of the United States should welcome the chance to testify openly and honestly—that is, if the official had a defense,” Raskin said.
In my opinion, Trump’s lawyers don’t seem too worried.
If anything, I think Trump is looking forward to the impeachment revealing the election fraud that took place, although the defense team doesn’t intend on resting their arguments on the evidence of fraud.
Nevertheless, the spectacle will help show to the world the corrupt and desperate attempts of the deep state.
